Sound quality: JBL's Partybox 320 had acceptable overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. The bass has good impact and goes deep but is somewhat tubby and a bit prominent. Midrange is fairly even but is somewhat hazy, a bit grainy and congested and a touch plasticky and sibilant. Treble is fairly extended but is somewhat smeared and sizzly. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience. Sounds a bit congested. The two channel sound field extends somewhat above and a bit to the sides of the speaker enclosure and depth is flat. Individual instruments and voices are identifiable and have a two dimensional quality.
Volume:
Provides a decent volume level in a large sized room. When two units are used as a stereo pair the overall sound can be made louder, and depending on placement the sound stage can be made wider.
