Sound quality: The Kanto SYD has good overall sound quality. Bass has good impact and goes fairly deep but is a bit boomy. Midrange is even but is a bit hazy. Treble is extended but is a touch smeared. Does a good job recovering room ambience, sounds a bit congested and is lacking in fine detail. Bluetooth and wired sound quality are similar. Provides a decent volume level in a medium to large sized room.
Ease of use: Overall ease of use of the Kanto SYD is Good due to ambiguous controls and source selection. The volume control is unlabeled and a multifunction knob/button control for source selection which provides a visual indicator on console of min and max volume but there are no graphical or numerical index of level. Source selector is the unlabeled volume/source input button and there are indicators but they are ambiguous where there is are white leds for all sources except Bluetooth which is blue. However, the remote control is well labeled and buttons are prominent and grouped together - however, there is a propensity to inadvertently change tone control settings instead of adjusting volume. Bluetooth: Unlike most models in our ratings - pairing can't be initiated from the console, but requires using the physical remote control as such if the remote is lost Bluetooth pairing is not possible.
