Sound quality: Monster's Torch had Fair overall sound quality. The bass has decent impact, but is slightly boomy, and deep bass is lacking. The midrange is somewhat thin and is etched, grainy, plasticky, harsh, and somewhat hazy. The treble is extended but prominent, sizzly and harsh. It doesn't do a good job of recovering room ambience and is congested. The sound has a noticeable choppy quality at lower volume levels. There was no significant difference in sound quality between Bluetooth and Aux inputs. Provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room.
Ease of use: We found the Monster Torch ease of use to be Very Good overall. Bluetooth pairing is excellent as the unit is always in pairing mode when not already paired, shows a pairing mode indicator. Indicates when pairing mode has occurred and never times out. The volume controls are +/- buttons which have a visual indicator when max volume is reached. Works with line in and Bluetooth inputs. Source selection involves plug and unplug - The line input has priority over Bluetooth when plugged in with no delay. Unplug to directly go back to BT. Low contrast labeling on Aux input. Has misleading BT/Aux button that appears to be a source button, but only switches from Aux to BT and not the other way around, and will manually enable BT pairing mode if held too long.
