Sound quality: Skullcandy's Terrain XL had satisfactory overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. The bass has decent impact, but is a bit subdued and boomy, and the deep bass is lacking. Midrange is fairly even, but is somewhat grainy, and a touch hazy. Treble is fairly extended, but is a bit subdued, and somewhat sizzly and slightly dry. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience, and sounds somewhat congested. The monophonic sound field extends somewhat above and a bit to the sides of the speaker enclosure. Provides a decent volume level in medium sized room.
