Sound quality: Sony's Glass Sound (LSPX-S3) had subpar overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. Bass has little impact, is somewhat subdued, and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is somewhat thin, nasal, grainy and constricted, and a bit hazy, congested, sibilant and etched and has a touch "swooshy" quality" (phase shift). Also, with some content the sound is a bit compressed (dynamics sound a bit compressed). Treble is a bit prominent, somewhat sizzly, dry, glassy and smeared and the upper treble is muted. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience and sounds somewhat constricted, a bit congested and with some content the sound is a bit compressed. The speaker is monophonic. When two units are used as a stereo pair the sound stage can be made wider depending on placement. Provides a decent volume level in a small sized room, and is best suited for near field listening.
