Sound quality: Sony's SRS-XP500 had Good overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. Bass has good impact and goes deep, but the deep bass is boomy and somewhat prominent. Midrange is a bit thin, somewhat grainy and hazy, and a touch etched. Treble is extended but is somewhat sizzly and smeared and a bit to somewhat prominent depending on the program material. Does a decent job of recovering room ambience but sounds somewhat congested. The two channel sound field does not extend much above or to the sides of the speaker enclosure and the depth is flat. There is no significant difference between Bluetooth, USB, and aux sound quality. Provides a decent volume level in a large sized room. When two units are combined to form a stereo pair the sound field can be made wider depending on placement.
