Sound quality: Anker SoundCore's Flare 2 had Fair overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. With the Custom EQ set for the most even tonal balance, bass has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is slightly prominent, somewhat boomy, the dynamic range may sound compressed with some program material, and the bass distorts with program material with deep bass content. Midrange is fairly even, but is somewhat plasticky, grainy and hazy. Treble is extended, but is somewhat smeared and a bit prominent and sizzly. Does a so-so job of recovering room ambience and is somewhat congested and constricted. Provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room, sounds strained at higher volumes. Would have scored in the Good range but the bass distortion drops it down to Fair.
