Sound quality: Soundcore's Motion X500 had acceptable overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. With the soundcore app Custom EQ set to produce the most even tonal balance bass has good impact, but is a bit boomy and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is fairly even, but is a bit hazy and a touch nasal. Treble is extended, but is a bit smeared and dry and a touch subdued. Does a decent job of recovering room ambience and is a bit congested. The two channel sound field extends somewhat above and a bit beyond the sides of the speakers, and lacks depth. When playing stereo program material with Spatial Sound turned on, the sound stage becomes bigger, but adds an echoey quality; when playing 360 spatial audio material there is no echoey artifact and the soundstage can be very wide and tall depending on the program material. When two units are used as a stereo pair the sound stage can be made wider depending on placement. Provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room.
