Sound quality: Anker SoundCore's Rave PartyCast had Good overall sound quality. In the vertical position with the Custom EQ set for the most even tonal balance, bass has good impact, but is slightly subdued and boomy, and deep bass is lacking. Midrange is fairly even, but somewhat grainy, slightly hazy, and has a slight plastic resonance. Treble is fairly extended but the lower treble is a bit subdued, while the mid treble is a bit prominent, smeared, and sizzly. It does a so-so job of recovering room ambience and is somewhat congested. The speaker is monophonic. There was no significant difference in sound quality between vertical and horizontal orientation. When two units are used as a stereo pair the sound stage can be made wider depending on placement. There was no significant difference between Bluetooth, wired and USB sound quality. Provides a decent volume level in a large sized room.
Ease of use: We found the Anker SoundCore Rave PartyCast ease of use to be Very Good overall. Bluetooth: Unit is always in pairing mode when not already paired, has a pairing mode indicator, indicates when pairing mode has occurred and never times out. Volume controls are +/- buttons which have a visual indicator (power symbol blinks) when max volume is reached. The volume control also works with line in, USB and Bluetooth inputs. Speaker has 3 sources: Bluetooth, Aux and USB and uses plug-unplug to switch sources. The Aux and USB inputs have priority over Bluetooth when plugged in with no delay. When both Aux and USB are plugged in, the last one connected will play without having to stop or disconnect the first one first. There is low contrast labeling the on Aux input.
