Sound quality: Turtlebox's Original Gen 3 had acceptable overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. The bass has good impact and goes deep but is tubby and somewhat prominent. Midrange is somewhat hazy, grainy, plasticky and a bit muffled. Treble is fairly extended, but lower and mid treble is subdued and upper treble is somewhat smeared and sizzly. It doesn't do a good job of recovering room ambience and sounds somewhat congested. The speaker is monophonic and the sound field extends very little above and beyond the sides of the speaker enclosure. Depth is flat. Individual instruments and voices are identifiable and have a two dimensional quality.
Volume:
Provides a decent volume level in a large sized room but can get harsh at louder volumes.
