    The Details

Devices affected: The recall involves 15.5 million AC adapters sold in the U.S. either with Toshiba laptops or separately for $25 to $75. About 1.3 million more devices were sold in Canada.

The units are black and have model numbers, serial numbers, and date codes printed on the rating label. The date codes are between April 2008 and December 2012 and are listed in either a year/month format (e.g., April 2008 is 0804) or a year/week format (e.g., week 15 of 2008 is 0815).

A full list of the model names and numbers of the units covered by the recall can be found on the CPSC website.

The devices were sold at various stores nationwide and Toshiba.com from April 2008 through April 2014.

The problem: The AC adapters can overheat and spark, posing burn and fire hazards.

The fix: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled AC adapters and contact Dynabook Americas for a free replacement.
