Design and features:Although this Bluetooth wireless portable on-ear model has a closed design, it doesn't form a tight seal with the ears so you'll be able to hear outside sounds, such as a doorbell or car horn, when you're wearing the headphones. When using a wired connection the headphones have medium-high sensitivity, so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used even with lower-powered portable audio devices. The SoundLink has an integrated microphone, volume, music player function, and call connect/disconnect controls that work with Bluetooth devices. This headphone can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, so, for example, you could watch a movie on a tablet and answer phone calls from a smartphone. It will remember up to eight paired devices, and has multi-language voice prompts (which can be turned off) for power on/off, Bluetooth pairing, and battery status, and has firmware that can be updated. A quick-charge feature will provide two hours of use with a 15-minute charge. When used with Bluetooth-connected Apple mobile devices running iOS version 5 and above, it will display the headphone's battery level. This model has earcups that fold for travel and storage, and comes with a detachable 44-inch standard audio cable for wired use, a USB charging cable, and a carrying case.
Sound quality: When used in the wireless mode, the SoundLink On-Ear Bluetooth delivers good overall sound, with a warm character. Bass has good impact and goes deep, but is prominent and boomy. Midrange is somewhat muffled, and treble is recessed and upper treble is rolled off. The overall sound is closed-in, with so-so dynamics. When using a wired connection the overall sound quality falls into the fair range: the midrange is more muffled than in wireless mode and also becomes congested, the treble is more recessed, and the upper treble is more muted.
Comfort: We found these headphones are generally comfortable, and that they can produce a moderate sense of pressure on the ears. The earpads might feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.
