Sound quality: Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay A2 has good sound quality, although we did notice some problems in the overall bass range, which tends to be prominent. The mid bass has decent impact, but the deepest bass is missing; and, in certain cases, the lowest bass has a loose, muddled, or warbled quality. Midrange is fairly even, but somewhat grainy and congested. Treble is detailed and extended, but somewhat prominent. The unit has an echoey quality that provides an open spacious sound but overwhelms any natural room ambience in the program material. There was no significant difference between Bluetooth and wired sound quality. The speaker does provide a decent volume level in a medium-sized room.
Ease of use: We found the system's ease of use to be good overall. To connect to Bluetooth, you press a well-marked button to start the pairing process and then select the unit from your device. However, changing between Bluetooth and line-in sources is far less intuitive, mostly because the Bluetooth button secretly serves as the line-in source selector as well. This unit lacks a remote, which isn't an issue if it's near at hand or paired with a mobile Bluetooth device that can serve in that role.
