    But they can be risky: From 2016 to 2020 in the U.S., an estimated 1.2 million stair- or step-related injuries occurred in people 65 and older. But there are plenty of ways to make stairs safer. Here, tips from Allysin Bridges-German, clinical assistant professor in the occupational therapy and occupational science department at Towson University in Maryland, and CR’s ergonomics expert, Dana Keester.
