Don’t buy a handheld steam cleaner unless you’re ready to face filth. While testing the first of four handheld steam cleaners, I pointed it at every surface that’s safe to steam. That’s when I noticed the subtle ring around my faucet was actually embedded grime, that my oven and oven racks are a horror show, and that the smut-tarnished sink basin beside my washing machine I’ve been neglecting won’t be saved with a sponge and some elbow grease.
