Ryobi RY903622
Two samples of this generator purchased by CR would not start when new. This was due to a depleted battery that powers the CO shutoff module, a component that senses potentially deadly carbon monoxide (CO) and shuts off the generator when levels exceed set limits. It’s good that the generator doesn’t start when this critical safety component is not working, but if you’re not aware of the problem, you could be without power in an emergency, so you should check the unit to make sure it starts before bad weather is predicted. This generator, which was sold online exclusively through Home Depot, was discontinued in January 2024 and can no longer be purchased. If you've purchased a generator that is not starting due to a depleted CO sensor battery, contact Ryobi customer service at (800) 525-2579 for information about a replacement.
