Wayne WaterBug Glow Submersible Water Pumps Recalled
The water pumps, from Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands, can short-circuit, posing a fire, shock, or burn hazard
Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands, the parent company of Wayne and Wayne WaterBug, has recalled about 42,000 Wayne WaterBug Glow multiuse submersible water removal pumps. The circuit board can become wet and short-circuit, posing a fire, shock, or burn hazard to users. The company has received 28 reports of the circuit board malfunctioning, including two reports of minor burn injuries, according to the release from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The water pump recall applies to Wayne WaterBug Glow model WWB Glow 1/6 HP Multi-Use Pump units with SKU number 57732-WYN1. Consumer Reports does not currently test submersible water pumps.
Details of the Water Pump Recall
The recall: About 42,000 Wayne WaterBug Glow multiuse submersible pumps. The recall applies to model WWB Glow 1/6 HP Multi-Use Pump units with SKU number 57732-WYN1. The SKU number is printed on the yellow spec decal on the side of the pump. The model number is printed on the warranty tag attached to the power cord.
The risk: The pump’s circuit board can get wet and short-circuit, posing a fire, shock, or burn hazard to users.
Incidents/injuries: Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands, the parent company of Wayne WaterBug, has received 28 reports of the circuit board malfunctioning, including two reports of minor burn injuries.
Where and when sold: Home Depot stores nationwide and online at homedepot.com, as well as Home Depot Pro through wilmar.com, from July 2019 through March 2021 for about $130.
The remedy: Stop using the recalled pump immediately and contact Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands for a free replacement pump.
