What’s better than an end-of-season sale on outdoor gear? An end-of-season sale that happens right around Black Friday. As cold weather creeps in, it’s common to see major price reductions for outdoor essentials like grills, string trimmersleaf blowers, and smokeless firepits. Black Friday amplifies these savings as manufacturers and retailers clear space to make way for new inventory next spring.

    Grills

Weber’s entry-level flat-top grill is a solid performer that offers even heating and a broad temperature range in our tests. Like most flat-tops, it’s ideal for grilling foods unfit for a traditional grill with grates—think grilled cheese, small veggies, or breakfast staples like bacon, eggs, or pancakes. Best of all, it’s on sale for the lowest price we’ve seen.

This portable grill from Cuisinart is a solid performer, ideal for camping or tailgating. It features two burners and it has a thermometer built into the grill lid. We’ve seen the price approach $300 during the year, making this deal a great bet.

The Coleman RoadTrip 285 is perennial favorite in our tests. It’s a well-rounded portable grill that’s ideal for tailgates or camping. It comes with a collapsing stand, a feature you won’t find built into most portable grills. It also has three burners (most portable grills only have two) and has a thermometer built into the lid.

The Kamado Joe is among the absolute best kamado grills we’ve tested. It beats out the iconic Big Green Egg in our test, and now it’s available for about $300 off its everyday price. Like the best kamado grills, it excels in reaching roaring-hot temperatures for searing or cooking a wood-fired pizza, and it can maintain low, steady temperatures for smoking. It has two side shelves, a heat deflector, split rack, and a pizza stone.

    Leaf Blower

The Ego LB6504 leaf blower is so good that any sale is worth a look. This deal is solid—about 20 percent off the regular price—plus it comes with a dedicated battery and charger. That’s a bonus if you’re just building your battery tool arsenal since the same battery can be used to power the brand’s lawn mower, string trimmer, and other outdoor tools.

    Meat Thermometers

This digital instant-read meat thermometer is exactly what you need for taking quick and accurate temperatures in just about any food. It’s ideal for holiday cooking, and it’s currently on sale for the lowest price we’ve seen.

The Meater+ meat thermometer is one of the most reliable digital thermometers. It’s easy to use, and given its top-notch accuracy, you won’t need guesswork to determine the doneness of brisket and other fleshy delights. It’s shaped like a thick ink pen with dual sensors—one to check the internal temperature and one for ambient temperature—and its size makes it better suited for girthier cuts. The Meater+ transmits temperature readings wirelessly to the companion smartphone app.

The InkBird IBT-4DXS BT is the highest-rated digital meat thermometer in CR tests. It offers app connectivity with estimated cook times, four separate probes, built-in alarms, and the ability to charge the device while actively monitoring temperatures. InkBird boasts decent range in outdoor environments, up to 150 feet.

    Pressure Washer

The electric-powered Greenworks pressure washer is very easy to use, and relatively quiet while operating. Our tests found its cleaning performance and power to be average, but it’s probably all you need for a typical composite deck or walkway—it might just take a little longer to clean. This model comes with four nozzle tips, solid wheels, and a replaceable cleaning tip.

    Smokeless Firepits

While the Tiki Smokeless Fire Pit wasn’t the very best in our test, it did a stellar job at getting a small fire going quickly and cutting down on smoke. Plus it resisted rusting and proved easy to clean. It’s a good bet if you’re not concerned with capacity, and the sale price makes it that much more tempting.

    String Trimmers

The Husqvarna 130C string trimmer is rare because you don’t typically see high-end brands make a curved-shaft gas string trimmer. That’s because straight-shaft trimmers tend to be favored by pros. But our past tests have found that some users, particularly those on the shorter side, actually find curved-shaft models easier to use. This option is stellar, proving adept at trimming, edging, and plowing through tall grass and weeds. Gas trimmers are no longer the norm, but they’re still a stellar option if you have a lot of ground to cover and typically need more than 30 minutes to trim your entire yard without pausing to charge batteries.
