YONKERS, N.Y. – Consumer Reports (CR) today announced that it is part of a newly-formed coalition of nonprofits dedicated to improving cybersecurity.

Nonprofit Cyber is a first-of-its-kind alliance of 22 global nonprofit organizations that seek to raise awareness of cyber threats, help people protect their personal data, and work with policymakers and companies to advance solutions for a safer world.

“From data breaches to online scams, cyber threats pose a danger to all of us, and we want to help solve these problems,” said Marta Tellado, president and CEO of Consumer Reports. “Joining this coalition is an exciting opportunity to help center consumer needs and empower people against the dangers of today’s digital world.”

As a nonprofit consumer research, testing, and advocacy organization, CR is dedicated to upholding and improving consumers’ digital rights. CR’s Digital Lab is a community of technologists, researchers, and advocates working to build a digital marketplace that better serves consumers. The Digital Lab’s primary goals include helping consumers better control their data, choosing secure products, and improving their security hygiene, and the Nonprofit Cyber coalition shares this mission amid escalating cyber threats on a global scale.
