YONKERS, NY – Consumer Reports, the nonprofit consumer research, testing, and advocacy organization, has been named a winner in Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards for its work on water safety and quality. The competition recognizes important, innovative work to address some of society’s most pressing issues, including inequality, climate change and public health crises.
We’re honored that Fast Company has recognized CR’s role in working in communities across the US to expose concerns about the quality of our drinking water and the urgent need to address them to ensure the health and safety of all Americans.
Fast Company honored Consumer Reports’ (CR) collaboration with The Guardian on America’s Water Crisis, a year-long investigation to expose and remedy some of the problems the country faces to ensure everyone has access to safe tap water.
“America’s Water Crisis is just one example of how CR is focusing on the unseen dangers people face every day. Millions of Americans face serious water quality issues due to contamination, deteriorating infrastructure, and inadequate treatment at water plants,” said Marta L. Tellado, President and CEO of Consumer Reports. “We’re honored that Fast Company has recognized CR’s role in working in communities across the US to expose concerns about the quality of our drinking water and the urgent need to address them to ensure the health and safety of all Americans.”
CR was chosen among 39 winners, 350 finalists, and more than 600 honorable mentions across a variety of categories. You can read more about the award here. Learn more about CR’s work on water safety and quality here.
