It would be hard to overstate how much good Rhoda Karpatkin did for generations of consumers. As the president of Consumers Union — now Consumer Reports — for more than 25 years, Rhoda led CR to become the trusted name and consumer champion we are today.
You can see Rhoda’s influence all around our organization — from the CR testing labs that she envisioned, to our advocates who are in the arena, fighting for consumer rights every single day.
She was an extraordinary individual, a courageous executive, and a beloved friend and role model for so many people.
I am deeply grateful to have known her, and to have learned from her, and I’m heartbroken by her passing. Rhoda is a true and enduring icon of the consumer movement. Her legacy will be felt for generations to come, and it’s a profound honor to serve in the role that she grew and cultivated to build a better marketplace for all consumers.
