Yonkers, NY — Consumer Reports (CR), the consumer research, testing and advocacy organization, announced today that Khalid El Khatib has joined as Chief Marketing Officer. Khalid will lead the organization’s strategy to reach new and existing consumers by sharing the CR story across paid, owned, earned and shared media as well as through other channels.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Khalid to the leadership team at Consumer Reports,” said Lauren Stanich, Senior Vice President and Chief Growth Officer of Consumer Reports. “Khalid brings the experience and expertise to help us both communicate our unique value to more consumers than ever and grow our brand in innovative ways.”
“CR is an organization I have admired and respected my whole life. I feel very fortunate to help lead a brand with such a rich legacy, and I’m energized by the potential that exists to expand its reach,” said El Khatib. “Faced with more choices than ever, and in an increasingly complex world, now is the perfect time to build on CR’s history of serving as an unbiased, single source of truth and to reaffirm its place as the champion of consumers’ needs and interests.”
Most recently, Khalid was the Chief Marketing Officer at Stack Overflow, where he led marketing and communications for the largest online community for developers and technologists. Under his leadership, the organization accelerated its revenue growth, was named a Fast Company Most Innovative Company and won multiple Webby awards, and Khalid was nominated for PR Week’s 2023 Marketer of the Year.
Previously, Khalid worked both at agencies and in-house in order to elevate the profile of renowned brands that include General Electric, GLG, the Motion Picture Association, TED, and Xerox. He began his career working in communications at Teach For America. Khalid has also written for several media outlets. He has bylines in Food52, The MICHELIN Guide, PAPER Magazine, and more on art, culture, food, and travel.
Khalid has a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in political science and creative writing.
