    Vacuums and Floor Care

When it comes to cleaning, the Dyson 360 vis nav is hard to beat. It’s stellar at capturing debris and dust from carpets, a task that many robot vacuums struggle with. It has strong suction power and is less likely to scatter trash around while cleaning than other bots we tested. It has a quick charging time of under 2 hours. The Dyson 360 vis nav is typically priced around $1,000, so now’s a good time to snag this vacuum while it’s still 50 percent off.

The Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Lite VS80F28DMP/AA is a good vacuum to have if you don’t have tons of carpets in your home. It was $50 less during the last big sale, but this is still a nice price if this is the model you want. It’s only decent at sucking debris from carpets, but it’s very good on bare floors and even better at picking up pet hair. It comes with a station that charges the vacuum and automatically empties its dust bin. The model is currently selling at the lowest price we’ve seen in the past three months, making this a deal worth capitalizing on.

While the Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly CrossOver 21814 might be on the heavier side at 26 pounds, it makes up for it with its strong performance. Compared with other vacuums we test, it’s especially good at cleaning carpets and bare floors. Its suction power also earned an excellent score, the highest in its category. It’s currently selling at the lowest price we’ve seen in the past six months, so it’s worth snagging if it’s the vac you’re looking for.

    Air Purifiers

If you don’t mind some noise, this portable air purifier from GermGuardian is a solid option. CR testers found that it’s really good at removing dust, pollen, and smoke particles from the air when running at high speed. But the unit is pricey to maintain because the replacement filters are relatively expensive. The model features a convenient carrying handle, easy-to-use controls, and a programmable timer.

    Pillows

The Beckham Luxury Linens Hotel Collection Pillow is just $3 more than its best price, a sale we haven’t seen in nearly a year. It has a 100 percent cotton cover and a 100 percent polyester gel-fiber filling. The pillow aced our test for breathability, so it should help keep you from feeling hot; it also scored top marks for resiliency, so it should maintain its shape over time.

This Coop pillow uses gel-infused memory foam and microfiber, making it a good choice for those who love the “cool side” of the pillow. The pillow gets a perfect score for breathability, so if you sleep hot, it could be exactly what you need for all-night comfort. It also offers top-notch side support and nearly as good back support.

This adjustable-fill pillow from Layla marries polyurethane foam with kapok—the featherlike fiber made from the seed pods of the kapok tree, popular for being a vegan alternative to down. Our tests find that the model lives up to the material’s reputation, offering top-notch breathability in a soft and rather resilient package. Despite not having cooling properties as its name suggests, the pillow does not retain warmth. And while it offers stellar support for side sleepers, back sleepers are also well served by this pick.

Coop’s Original Pillow is one of the best in CR’s ratings, excelling in CR’s tests for side and back support and resilience, and earning a very good rating for breathability. The other Coop pillow we tested, the Cool+ Adjustable Classic, does well too, giving you another option to explore if you have different style sleepers in your household. Coop’s sheets also earn CR’s recommendation.

    Blackout Curtains

Blackout curtains can be a total game-changer. The Amazon Basics Room Darkening Blackout Curtains are among the best we evaluated for a number of reasons. Tested in both black and white, they scored a perfect 5 out of 5 for their ability to block light. As for how well the curtains provide insulation against heat loss and gain, we scored them 4 out of 5. Made from polyester/polyurethane, each panel uses loops to attach to a rod. They’re also washable—making them both functional and convenient.

    Comforters and Duvets

    Buffy Cloud Comforter

    Buffy Cloud Comforter

Buffy’s Cloud Comforter is the softest choice in our at-home assessment, and it’s back down to the lowest price we’ve seen. Thanks to its smooth, silky feel and fluffiness, the duvet is comfortable enough to use without a duvet cover. Made of recycled materials, it’s uniformly stuffed in layers to prevent clumping and shedding. The shell material is 100 percent sateen-weave Tencel lyocell.

    Mattresses

If you’re looking for a soft mattress, the Casper Dream is a solid pick, providing pressure relief and comfort to those who need it. It was recently about $100 less, but this is still a nice discount. In our lab evaluation, we found the model—a newbie to CR’s ratings—to be a standout for petite back sleepers, and it serves all other sizes and positions very well. The Dream scores well for durability, too, so you can expect to get sound sleep on it for eight to 10 years. If you sleep with a partner, you should feel very little vibration from their movement. CR members give Casper mattresses high marks for comfort and owner satisfaction.

The Layla Essential foam mattress, which is 9 inches thick, is a great lower-cost option if you’re in the market for a firm mattress. It earns CR’s top ratings for petite and average back sleepers and near-perfect scores for large back sleepers and petite side sleepers. Average and large side sleepers would find better support elsewhere, though. The mattress receives a firmness rating of 7 out of 10 in our tests. You may feel some vibrations from a fellow sleeper’s shifts; the model earns only a middling stability score. This mattress also doesn’t retain heat. In our member surveys, Layla mattresses earn solid scores for comfort and owner satisfaction.

    Mattress Toppers

Lab tests find that this topper from Casper doesn’t allow users to sink in as deeply as other mattresses. This topper feels like an actual mattress, adding a touch of medium softness where needed without allowing the body to sink in too much. The two-layer cushion combines a layer of softer foam over a firmer base layer of foam. At a little under 16 pounds, it’s easy to move around, and its machine-washable zip-off cover, made of polyester, cotton, rayon, and spandex, makes it easy to clean. However, this topper can not be flipped. Casper offers a 30-night risk-free trial, and its toppers are backed by a five-year limited mattress topper warranty.

    Dehumidifiers

The medium-capacity Midea MAD35S1QWT is a top performer in our ratings and can remove 35 pints of moisture from the air per day. It excels our water removal, energy efficiency, and convenience tests. This dehumidifier also earns an excellent score for noise, making it one of the quietest models in this category and earning it the title of highest-scoring dehumidifier. This model is equipped with a digital display, a built-in water pump, and a timer.

For smaller spaces, if quiet is a main consideration, check out the Midea MAD20S1QWT. It makes less noise than any model in our ratings while also earning standout scores for water removal, convenience, and humidistat accuracy. This dehumidifier is relatively energy-efficient and includes some nice features, such as a timer and an auto-restart function that turns the machine back on at its previous settings after a power outage. It also comes with a hose to divert water to a drain. Midea’s dehumidifiers received a very favorable rating for reliability and a midlevel rating for owner satisfaction in CR’s member surveys.

    Humidifiers

You can’t really go wrong with the HoMedics UHE-CMTF45-GY Total Comfort UV-C, which is designed to humidify small rooms of up to 278 square feet. It’s quiet and energy-efficient, and it has top-tier moisture output. This model comes with a nightlight feature and has an indicator that shows when you need to clean the humidifier.

The Babymoov Hygro (+) is the highest-rated humidifier for small rooms in our evaluation, and for good reason. It’s quiet, energy-efficient, and produces high moisture output. The Hygro (+) comes with a humidistat that controls the humidity level, as well as seven different colors of night light.

The low-priced, ultrasonic Levoit Classic 300S can humidify a room of up to 505 square feet, which earns it a solid rating in our output test. It aces other evaluations too. It has a variety of features including automatic shut-off, a digital humidity display that’s more accurate than those of most competitors, and the option to diffuse aromas. The price has been as low as $64, but this is the best discount we’ve seen in a few months.

    Clothes Steamers

Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Steam & Press with Turbo GS59X

Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Steam & Press with Turbo GS59X

The Conair GS59X does a good job evening out rumples in thin cotton dress shirts, but like most handheld steamers, it struggles with creases. It took about 12 minutes to steam a button-up and couldn’t handle a more challenging linen shirt. This steamer did a satisfactory job in our evaluations across the board, including for steam power (16.62 grams per minute), heat time (1 minute), and run time (13 minutes). The tank is relatively easy to fill, and the steamer can operate vertically and horizontally.

    CHI Handheld Garment Steamer

    CHI Handheld Garment Steamer

This handheld steamer is a great option if you need something for travel because it’s lightweight and about the size and shape of a flat iron (great for packing), and you can use regular old tap water. It offers 8 minutes of steaming with a manual steam button on the handle, and it was the fastest steamer to heat up in our evaluation, ready to go after 40 seconds. Our evaluator recommended using a spray bottle to dampen any especially deep wrinkles to help the steamer get the job done. The cost was $5 lower recently, but this is still a good price for the convenience.

    Packing Cubes

    Bagail 8 Set Packing Cubes

    Bagail 8 Set Packing Cubes

The Bagail 8 Set Packing Cubes won CR’s evaluator over with the sheer number and variety of cubes it offers. In addition to three packing cubes (medium, large, and extra-large) that have mesh on the top panels to help you identify the contents inside quickly, it also comes with two zipper bags, a cosmetics bag, a shoe bag, and a drawstring bag that you can use to separate your dirty laundry. The extra organizational features were ultimately what gained Bagail the edge over the other packing cubes CR tried.

    Veken Packing Cubes

    Veken Packing Cubes

Veken Packing Cubes provide great bang for your buck, though they are a few dollars more than we’ve seen recently. This set has the largest capacity among the cubes we tried, and you get eight different ones to stay organized: four small, medium, large, and extra-large, a laundry bag, a shoe bag, a toiletries bag, and an accessories bag. The laundry bag, in particular, is on the larger side, which can be a real asset when you’re on a longer trip.

    Vacuum Storage Bags

    Cozy Essential Vacuum Storage Bags

    Cozy Essential Vacuum Storage Bags

The Cozy Essential Vacuum Storage Bags come in various combo packs. This set includes 20 bags, with four each of these sizes: jumbo, large, medium, small, and travel roll-up. Our evaluator liked that they were easy to both pump and compress, and the variety of sizes offers a lot of convenience for travel and storage.

    MagicBag Instant Space Saver

    MagicBag Instant Space Saver

If you’re looking to store your winter clothes, vacuum storage bags can be a great way to get them out of the way without taking up a ton of space. And this set of three from MagicBag could be a good option, especially for under $10. While these bags did require a bigger, more physical effort to seal, our evaluator noted that they didn’t have caps on the valves, which made it easier to use them overall. And with the zipper, one side is blue and the other is yellow—it turns green when it’s closed properly.

    Label Makers

    Phomemo M110 Label Maker

    Phomemo M110 Label Maker

The Phomemo M110 is the bigger, bulkier version of the Phomemo D30, which we also evaluated and liked. The M110 offers a bit more flexibility with the size of the label you’re creating. It uses the same app, and has a wide variety of fonts, styles, and images, with quick creation and easy label cutting. Its size, compared with the smaller Phomemo, makes it a bit less portable, and its alignment isn’t as precise when it comes to cutting the label exactly on the cut line compared with other label printers. But it’s still a solid option.

    Garbage Disposals

The 1.25-hp Frigidaire FF13DISPC1 continuous-feed garbage disposal excelled in our tests, quickly and (fairly) quietly grinding scraps into small particles that won’t cause clogs. The 13-pound disposal comes with a 10-year warranty, a removable splash guard, and a plug-in power cord. A magnetic ring prevents utensils from falling inside, and antimicrobial protection guards against odors.

    Tools and Yard Care

The Ego CS1611 is a battery-powered chainsaw that performed well in our tests, excelling in terms of ease of use, handling, and safety, and earning a very good score for cutting. It features a 16-inch bar, includes a 2.5-amp-hour battery and charger, and comes with a five-year warranty. The price at Amazon is now about $10 to $15 less than at other retailers, as of last week.

If you need a leaf blower for light-duty work, the Worx WG585 can move leaves and other light debris quickly and with ease. The leaf blower itself is also light, at just over 6 pounds. If you’ve invested in other 40-volt tools from Worx, now’s a good time to add a leaf blower to your arsenal. This is the lowest price we’ve seen in at least a year. This leaf blower was $180 during the big sales at the beginning of October, so it may fall in price again closer to Black Friday.

The Greenworks 2600602 packs a serious punch for such a small tool. At a mere 15 pounds, it can go places you’d never bring your full-sized snow blower, like up a flight of stairs or onto an elevated deck. That makes it the perfect companion to a larger machine or a good fit for anyone in an area that seldom sees more than a few inches of snow.

    Washers and Dryers

If sleek washers are your style, consider the LG Signature WM9900HSA front-loader. Recently introduced, it offers a minimalist brushed-steel design with an intuitive LCD touchscreen, a generous 5.8-cubic-foot capacity, 26 wash programs, and AI technology that automatically detects fabrics and load size and selects the ideal settings for both the washer and its companion dryer. It also has an auto dispenser that releases detergent for up to 36 loads before refilling and can be operated remotely through its app. The price on this machine was $200 less for Labor Day, but this is still a good buy.

The LG DLGX5501W offers great performance and some nice extras at a moderate price, and it’s only $30 more than its best price. It scores admirably in our tests for drying performance, convenience, and noise, and offers a steam option, extended tumble, and WiFi capability—and it’s our top-rated dryer. Its stainless steel drum has a 7.4-cubic-foot capacity. In our surveys, CR members rank LG gas dryers at the top for both reliability and owner satisfaction.
