Coffee Makers
The CR Recommended Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable DCC-3200 is an excellent overall choice based on CR’s tests, and its brew performance, an indicator of taste, was stellar. We also found it convenient to use, and the carafe was easy to hold and pour from. What’s more, Cuisinart, as a coffee maker brand, showed excellent owner satisfaction in CR’s member surveys (meaning owners of this brand’s machines are likely to recommend their model to friends and family), as well as a very good score for predicted reliability (which reflects the likelihood that an owner will experience a problem with their machine in their first four years of ownership). A $30 discount isn’t too shabby either.
The Keurig K-Supreme is a scaled-down version of the Keurig K-Supreme Plus Smart, and we expect both to perform similarly. They are among the K-Cup creator’s top-of-the-line brewers showcasing the brand’s latest features. The baseline version now on sale offers four different brew sizes and an over-ice brew mode. This Black Friday price is the best we’ve seen all year.
Air Fryers
Gourmia GAF686 Digital
We found the Gourmia GAF686 Digital’s controls are exceptionally easy to use, plus it receives very good scores for ease of cleaning and noise. It has a digital display, dishwasher-safe parts, and pre-programmed settings. But it’s worth noting that this model may run hot (when we set it to 350° F, we measured the temperature at 365° F).
The Ninja Pro AF141 is an easy-to-use air fryer with a measured capacity of 3.8 quarts and a range of cooking functions, including a dehydrate setting. It’s not the quietest air fryer, but it’s not especially noisy either, and our testers found it easy to clean. It comes with pre-programmed settings for cooking different foods, plus a recipe book and cooking charts to help guide your cooking. You’ll get a 1-year warranty with this machine.
This price matches the best we’ve seen, beating the typical low by about $10.
The Cuisinart AIR-20 dropped from $100 last week to this great low price, as we predicted. This is a large air fryer with very good scores in CR’s tests for ease of cleaning, convenience, and noise. It has a window and an interior light, allowing you to keep an eye on your food without pulling out the drawer and losing heat. There’s also a toss reminder to help you ensure that your food is evenly cooked. This air fryer comes with a three-year warranty, which is more generous than you’d get with many other models.
The Instant Vortex Plus 140-3089-01 air fryer earns an excellent score in our evaluation of its controls and receives very good scores for ease of cleaning and noise. We measured its capacity to be 5.2 quarts, meaning it can hold enough to feed a family. It has pre-programmed settings, a cooking window and light, plus an “odor erase” feature that could be handy if you plan to air fry onion rings or other potentially smelly foods. We’ve seen this air fryer at a slightly lower price in the recent past, but if you want a large air fryer now, this is still a worthy deal.
Cookware
With more than 120 years in the business, Lodge knows a thing or two about cast iron. As a result, the CR Recommended Lodge Essential Enamel Cast Iron Dutch oven turns out bread that’s nicely browned and crispy, earning a very good rating in our bread-baking test, and it’s oven safe up to 500°F. Cooking evenness and speed of heating are also very good, cleanup is a breeze, and it’s dishwasher safe. This Dutch oven weighs 13 pounds and has a 7-inch cooking surface diameter.
The Our Place Always Pan 2.0 is one of the top-rated nonstick frying pans in CR’s tests. We find that it cooks evenly, and its handle is sturdy and is cool enough to the touch that you won’t need a potholder every time you reach for it. Its nonstick food release is very good, and it earns a very good score in our nonstick durability test. (In this test, we intentionally scrub the nonstick surface with 2,000 strokes of steel wool and evaluate the outcome by frying eggs on the abraded surface.) This pan is induction-compatible, the manufacturer says it’s oven safe to 450° F, and it’s on sale for about 25 percent off for Black Friday. This is the typical sale price, but it tends to only ever get discounted for these big sales.
For such a budget-friendly option, it may initially come as a surprise that the Blue Diamond Classic Diamond-Infused Ceramic set is among the best-performing nonstick cookware sets in CR’s ratings. It excels in most of our tests, including nonstick food release, cooking evenness, and speed of heating. It also shows very good performance for nonstick durability. Like many lower-priced cookware sets and frying pans, this set did less well in our handle sturdiness tests, in which we apply pressure to the handle until it bends, loosens, or breaks. At its original price of $109.99, this set earned CR’s Smart Buy designation, so at its sale price, it’s an even smarter buy.
The simple, traditional hand-hammered Craft Wok 14" Carbon Steel Wok very rarely comes on sale at a price this low. This model aces CR’s tests for cooking evenness, but its round bottom makes it best equipped for a gas range (flat-bottomed woks are best for smoothtop and induction cooktops). And woks aren’t just for stir-fries. You can use them to deep fry foods, steam, and even make popcorn on the stove top. Like many carbon-steel woks, this Craft Wok doesn’t come pre-seasoned.
Small Kitchen Appliances
The CR Recommended NutriBullet Ultra NB50500 personal blender could be a good choice for those who want to make smoothies to go. It comes with a 32-ounce cup, a 24-ounce cup, a 24-ounce handled cup, and two to-go lids. Plus, it’s dishwasher-safe. This blender earns excellent scores in our tests for making icy drinks and purees, and for its durability.
The CR Recommended Cuisinart CPT-435 Countdown Metal 4-Slice toaster is similar to the Cuisinart CPT-415 Countdown Metal 2-Slice that we’ve tested in our labs, and we expect it to perform virtually the same. In our tests, the 2-slice toaster receives an excellent score for color range. You can also expect even browning whether you’re making one slice or a full batch, and it’ll get the job done quickly, based on our test results. We find it easy to use, but like many toasters we test, it earned a mediocre score for ease of cleaning.
The top-scoring Hamilton Beach 31156 is the only toaster oven in our ratings to excel in all of our tests for toast, plus it does a solid job at baking. It has a novel design: two bread slots for toasting, as you’d find on a dedicated toaster, and a small oven cavity underneath. For those who prioritize toast but want basic toaster oven features, this model may be the right pick.

Bed & Bath
Coop’s Original Pillow is one of the best in CR’s ratings, excelling in all of CR’s tests. The other pillow we tested from this brand, the Cool+ Adjustable Classic, does well too, giving you another option to explore if you have different style sleepers in your household. Coop’s sheets also earn CR’s recommendation.
Brooklinen’s Black Friday sale is here, and they’re offering a 25 percent sitewide discount, which is markedly better than the 20 percent discount we tend to see for minor savings events. The Dreamweave Waffle Bath Towels rank among the best of all the bath towels we’ve tested. Of the top three bath towels, they’re the second softest, but they took longer to dry than the other two. This price is for a set of two.
Want to cuddle up in your bath towel? Get the Brooklinen Super-Plush (sold in a pair), available at 25 percent off for Black Friday. These guys are huge: At a whopping, superheavy 820 grams per square meter, and being 53 inches long and 28 inches wide, the Brooklinen towel is what you want to wrap yourself in when the temps are below freezing and the thought of stepping out of a steaming warm shower onto ice-cold tile floors chills your heart. These towels were the most absorbent in our evaluation, but they also took the longest to dry.
This 3-inch memory foam mattress topper is still available for the same low price we saw on Prime Day. It offers excellent support and a deeper, more cushioned feel than many others. Infused with cooling gel, it helps regulate temperature for a more comfortable night’s sleep. The flippable design adds versatility, though it lacks a cover and corner straps, which may lead to shifting. Temperature-sensitive foam means the topper feels softer when warm and firmer in cooler conditions. Weighing 15 pounds, it provides average warmth retention and a balanced blend of comfort and support.

Headphones
For all of the popularity of Apple’s AirPods, this is a rather unusual model, and so is the incredibly low price at Amazon right now, dropping another $10 this week from what was already a nice discount. Lacking the padded ear tips that plug your ear canals, it doesn’t offer much passive noise cancellation, but it does have reasonably effective noise-canceling tech. And so, you can elect to turn the noise-canceling feature off and hear what’s going on around you, which can be great when you’re on a run or walking on a busy street. In terms of sound and fit, the buds are very similar to the regular AirPods 4.
This wireless Bluetooth iPod/iPad/cellphone-centric headphone from JBL is a solid pick. The JBL Tune 660NC delivers very good sound quality and excellent active noise reduction. These headphones have a closed design, so they will provide some muffling of external noises and also reduce the amount of sound that escapes from the headphones.
The Galaxy Buds FE pair nicely with Samsung Galaxy phones, with phone-specific features like live translation. Their noise cancellation works effectively, and the sound quality is solidly above average. Our testers also find that, with wingtips that help the earbuds stay in place, the Galaxy Buds FE fit users with a variety of head and ear sizes. And they’re at the best price we’ve seen since Prime Day in July, when they dropped to $50 (so they may hit that low price again).

Streaming Devices
The Amazon Fire TV Cube, at the best price we’ve ever seen, is a mashup of an Amazon Echo and a 4K Fire TV streamer. Its universal remote control capabilities let you control a host of other compatible A/V gear, including TVs, soundbars, receivers, and even some cable and satellite boxes. New features include HDMI 2.1 connections—one input and one output—for controlling other devices using your voice. (One cool trick is that the Cube will also upscale any content from a source connected to its HDMI input.) Other features include support for WiFi 6E, support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ HDR, and an Off button that disconnects the microphones if you don’t want the device in an always-listening mode.
Google is phasing out its older, cheaper Chromecast streaming devices and replacing them with this new model. The Google TV Streamer (4K) features a sleeker design, a faster processor, and support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ HDR formats, as well as Dolby Atmos audio. The player can also serve as a hub for Google Home or Matter, enabling control of smart home products. It supports Thread, so it can extend your WiFi network, too.
This is now $5 less than the best price we’ve seen in months.
The updated Ultra—the most powerful 4K streaming player Roku makes—has a new, faster quad-core processor, quicker app launches, support for both the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats and WiFi 6 wireless. Other features include a lost-remote finder and a wireless mode that lets you pair with Bluetooth headphones. The new Ultra comes with Roku’s best remote control, which gets recharged via a USB-C connection.7
This is $10 more than the best price we’ve seen recently, so consider holding off on buying until the price dips again, as it is likely to do closer to Black Friday.
Soundbars
Amazon Fire TV Soundbar (B0C4BZ28PG)
We didn’t test the Amazon Fire TV Soundbar (B0C4BZ28PG), but it’s a fairly basic, low-cost model at a very nice price. As a 2.0-channel system, it features a single bar with stereo speakers and no separate subwoofer. It supports DTS Virtual: X, which attempts to create a more immersive experience using just the two speakers in the main enclosure. The model offers Bluetooth audio for streaming music from a smartphone.
Anyone looking to save some space—or cut down on items to plug into their TV—may want to consider the Roku Streambar SE. It doesn’t go on sale all that often. This soundbar includes a built-in Roku streaming player. Given its small footprint, it probably works best for smaller TVs, not that jumbo-sized set you’ve been eyeing.
This soundbar has been as low as $69 in recent weeks, so its price could drop again close to Black Friday.
Speakers
Looking for a really good, inexpensive small speaker? The Flip 6 is at a great discount at Walmart right now in Blue. This speaker is very similar to the venerable Flip 5, and that’s a good thing. It’s water and dust-resistant, has a 12-hour battery life, and is just the right size to slip into a bag or even the water bottle pocket on a backpack.
Prices have been fluctuating, and this is about $10 more than what we’ve seen recently. So you may want to watch for things to get a little cheaper before you buy.
The JBL Flip 7 is a classic do-it-all speaker. It’s small enough to stuff into a bag, but delivers enough sound to provide background music at a barbecue. It’s IP68 water-resistant and dust-proof, and the company claims you can drop it onto a concrete floor from a height of one meter and it’ll keep working. Also, according to JBL, it delivers 16 hours of music on a single charge. This is the sale price for the red model. You’ll find other options available for roughly $110. All represent a decent value, especially if you think there’s a good chance you’ll be abusing your new speaker more than a little.
More Tech Gear
The Fitbit Charge line routinely features great general-purpose trackers, and the Charge 6 is no exception. It offers a 1.1-inch full-color display and a range of tools that help you stay on top of your health, everything from stress monitoring to an ECG (electrocardiogram) function that can alert you to irregular heart rhythms.
Apple Pencil Pro
For avid iPad users, a stylus can help you easily navigate menus, jot down notes, or create advanced digital art. The premium Apple Pencil Pro comes with all the bells and whistles, like haptic feedback, Find My capability, and pressure sensitivity. Note that this stylus is only compatible with certain iPad Pro and Air models.
Apple Pencil (USB-C)
Like the Apple Pencil Pro, the Apple Pencil USB-C is generally accurate and smooth, making it a good choice for sketching and note-taking. But it’s slightly less sensitive than the Apple Pencil Pro and less responsive than the Gen 2, which makes it somewhat harder to control. It offers palm rejection (so your hand won’t interfere while drawing) and tilt support, which allows for realistic shading and pencil-like strokes. This model doesn’t support pressure sensitivity, meaning the thickness of your lines won’t vary based on how hard you press down. That can be a drawback for digital artists, but many creative apps allow you to manually adjust brush size or weight, so pro-level work is still possible, albeit with more manual input. The other trade-off is that the stylus charges and pairs via the USB-C port rather than the wireless charging and pairing of the Pro or 2nd Gen model. It can attach to the side of your iPad for easy storage, though.
The Amazon Fire HD10 isn’t a high-end tablet, but it offers plenty of power if you just want to tackle “tablet-y” things, like streaming video, reading ebooks, or browsing the web on something bigger than your phone. You can also snag a discount on the smaller 8-inch Amazon Fire HD8.

Humidifiers
The Babymoov Hygro (+) is the highest-rated humidifier for small rooms in our evaluation, and for good reason. It’s quiet, energy-efficient, and produces high moisture output. The Hygro (+) comes with a humidistat that controls the humidity level, as well as seven different colors of night light.
This is $10 less than the usual sale price.
This humidifier, rated for small rooms, is a fantastic balance of quality and price. It’s plenty capable, and it has an indicator when the water level is low, so it’s easy to know when you need to add more (and it shuts off automatically if you don’t get there in time).
The low-priced, ultrasonic Levoit Classic 300S can humidify a room of up to 505 square feet, earning it a solid rating in our output test. It aces other evaluations, too. It has a variety of features, including automatic shut-off, a digital humidity display more accurate than those of most competitors, and the option to diffuse aromas. It’s been as low as $64, but this is the best discount we’ve seen in a few months.

Pets
PetLibro Smart Pet Water Fountain
The Petlibro Dockstream Smart Pet Fountain is a WiFi-enabled device that lets you accurately monitor your pet’s water intake. It holds more than half a gallon of water, and the whole fountain is wireless. It even has a motion sensor, so it runs only when your pet approaches it, making the battery last even longer. The app can also alert you when water levels are low, which is especially nice because the container is opaque. I own the non-smart version and rely on the indicator light (and the pesky sound of the pump struggling to suck up water when the level is too low), which isn’t ideal.
This is just a couple dollars more than the best price we’ve ever seen, making it a fantastic time to buy.
Petlibro Granary Smart Feeder
The PetLibro automatic pet feeder was easy to use and has an app that makes setting schedules and dispensing food a breeze. It dispenses accurate amounts of dry food for dogs or cats and has a voice recording feature that allows you to call your pet for meals. The price has fallen $16 from its recent low to the best we’ve ever seen
The Cube is not specifically intended for pet tracking but to help people keep track of a range of possessions, including cars, luggage, and kids’ backpacks, as well as pets. That puts the Cube at a disadvantage as a pet tracker, despite its competent core tracking abilities. The device is relatively large and heavy, but most dog collars won’t fit through its thin slots, so you need to purchase an add-on collar clip for $25. More significantly, the app lacks pet-specific features like fitness and activity tracking and a light beacon for spotting your dog at night.
On the other hand, it does let you set a home “safe zone” and virtual fence, and does emit a fairly loud sound alert. It’s also very solidly constructed, creates detailed and easy-to-read location histories, and, like the Link, is capable of delivering high-temperature alerts.

Personal Massagers
HoMedics Cordless Shiatsu Massage Pillow With Heat
The HoMedics massager sets itself apart from the other models we evaluated because it’s wireless and rechargeable. This normally makes it a bit pricier, but the discount and on-page coupon help make it a more reasonable purchase. Because it’s more of a pillow shape, our evaluator said it was harder to use on the shoulders, but it was comfortable on the back. The only downsides are that the heat function doesn’t get quite as hot as other models, reaching only 93º F, and there is no way to control the speed.
Renpho R3 Massage Gun
The Renpho R3 massage gun might be the best all-around device for most average users because it’s small, lightweight, and quieter than other devices. But it’s not the ideal choice for people who want the most intense massage or the best model to massage areas on the back. The pistol grip could add some more postural stress than other devices, though its light weight and small form could help alleviate stress for some. As a bonus, this can be charged with a standard USB-C charging cable. It’s also $5 less than it has been in weeks, matching its best price.
Renpho R4 Pro Massage Gun
The Renpho R4 Pro massage gun’s triangular shape makes it easy for users to get a good grip for those hard-to-reach spots on their body. It’s not particularly powerful, but its moderate massage should still be sufficient for many users. It’s straightforward to use, with one button to change speeds. It also did very well in our evaluations for handle ergonomics, postural stress, and ease of use, but changing out the attachments was a bit clunky and required a little bit of effort.
Smart Home
Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance Smart Lightbulbs
While it’s expensive, the Philips Hue smart bulb was hands-down the easiest to work with and offered the most impressive performance in our home evaluation of the best smart lightbulbs. The bulb generates bright, vivid colors and displays a good range of color temperatures, plus it works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings when paired to a compatible smart speaker or hub. It can be used on its own via Bluetooth, but requires the Philips Hue Bridge for Apple Home integration and additional functionality.
Lutron Caséta Smart Dimmer Switch Kits
For a smart light switch that just works without fail, you can’t beat Lutron Caséta. Sure, it’s pricey, but these switches are easy to install and set up, and they’re one of the few options that don’t require a neutral wire. (Good news for people in homes built before the ‘80s). Amazon has two starter kits discounted back down to their October Prime Day sale prices. The Original Kit includes the Lutron hub, one dimmer switch, and one wireless remote. This Deluxe Kit includes the Lutron hub, two dimmer switches, and two wireless remotes.
The TP-Link Tapo MagCam C425, back to its best price, is a compact, battery-powered security camera that performs well in our tests. It offers local storage with up to a 512-gigabyte microSD card (sold separately) and features person detection, pet detection, vehicle detection, monitoring zones, and more. Best of all, you don’t need a subscription to use any of these features. TP-Link also sells a $40 solar panel that can be connected to the camera to keep its battery charged.
This camera was $30 less during Prime Day, but you won’t see that price again until the fall sales start in October, most likely.

Baby
This HelloBaby model is one of the lower-priced video monitors to earn CR’s recommendation, and it’s at the lowest price we’ve seen for this model, making it a smart buy. The device has its own 5-inch display and handles the video feed locally. It can show the room’s temperature in addition to visuals of your baby, with functions to remotely pan, tilt, and zoom. It also has built-in lullabies and can be used in audio-only mode. It lacks a night light, but that’s hardly a deal breaker.
Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Milk Spa
Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Milk Spa, which is now $7 less than it has been in recent weeks, uses a warm water bath to warm bottles, but the setup is a bit more involved than with other models we tested. Once that’s done, it warms bottles without any sign of overheating, even long after the warming program has ended. The controls on this model enable users to select the type of bottle and the starting temperature of the milk or formula (frozen, refrigerated, or room temperature), and well and adjust the program’s duration. Although the display is somewhat crowded, according to our usability expert, it was relatively easy to use and understand. If you like to reuse settings, this model remembers any adjustments to the time that are made for your next bottle warming.
