Air Purifiers
The kid sister to the 211i Max, Blueair’s 411i Max has a similar design, but for a smaller space—CR recommends a medium room or less. The portable air purifier delivers impressive results on its higher speed, and as with many air purifiers, it’s less effective on the lower speed. A true selling point is its relatively low annual operating cost and the fact that CR members are highly satisfied with their Blueairs. If you’re looking for an even cheaper option for a smaller room, the Pure 511 is another three-speed model that performs reasonably well in our tests.
The portable Blue Pure 211i Max does a terrific job removing dust, pollen, and smoke on its higher setting, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low, and you’ll have more quiet while still experiencing top-notch results. This model is designed for use in a large space of 350 to 650 square feet and costs about $109 a year to maintain. It also weighs just 17 pounds, making it easy to move around.
The Blueair Blue Pure 211+ takes up a little over a square foot of floor space and looks like it would be at home in an Ikea catalog. It aces our particle reduction tests on high and low speeds, meaning it quickly and effectively clears the air of both large (dust) and small (smoke) particles. The main combination filter is surrounded by a washable spandex-like prefilter that catches large particles, like human hair and pet fur. The model can clean rooms up to 540 square feet. But keep in mind that you’ll spend a bit to run and maintain it—about $199 per year for the electricity and replacement filters, by our estimates.
The portable Blueair Protect 7470i features a handy filter indicator to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and three speeds. On its highest setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still getting solid results. This model is designed for floor or tabletop use in a space that’s about 420 square feet. It costs about $140 a year to maintain and weighs just under 28 pounds.
The 50-pound Coway Airmega ProX excels at clearing rooms of dust, pollen, and smoke at both higher and lower speeds, and it does so pretty quietly. It’s worth noting that the ProX’s top-tier performance comes at a hefty price, including $247 annually for filters and electricity.
This matches the same sale price we saw during Prime Big Deal Days in October.
A portable purifier that keeps your air clean and matches your mid-century modern design aesthetic—yes, please. The HoMedics AP-C500 is a large-room air purifier with a budget-friendly price tag, even on a normal day. It’s an even better deal on sale. It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and it’s easy to use, but you should expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running.
This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this air purifier.
Getting half off a recommended air purifier is nothing to sneeze at. The Woozoo does a solid job at removing dust, pollen, and smoke at both high and low speeds. What’s more, it’s one of the more cost efficient large room air purifiers to operate and maintain. Just expect a bit of noise while it’s running. It’s currently on sale for the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
If you don’t mind some noise, this portable air purifier from GermGuardian may be a solid option. CR testers find that it’s really good at removing dust, pollen, and smoke particles from the air when running at high speed. But the unit is pricey to maintain because the replacement filters are relatively expensive. The model features a convenient carrying handle, easy-to-use controls, and a programmable timer.
The Levoit LV-H132 Air Purifier isn’t a top performer. It earns subpar ratings for dust, pollen, and smoke removal on both high and low speeds, which is why CR testers suggest it’s best for smaller rooms (we’re talking office-sized spaces). But it is pretty quiet, which is great when you have a day of Zoom calls, it has a fairly inexpensive annual operating cost, it’s easy to use, and it can fit neatly on your desk without taking up too much space.
The Levoit PlasmaPro 600S is a solid performer all-around, clearing the air of dust, pollen, and smoke at both higher and lower settings with great results. It’s noisy while running at a high speed, but it’s relatively quiet at low speeds. That makes it an ideal choice for an office or bedroom. And you don’t have to worry about keeping track of filter changes: An indicator light alerts you when it’s time. This machine also has a dust sensor and programmable timer.
This Philips 800 Series air purifier is only somewhat effective at removing dust, smoke, and pollen at a low speed, our tests find, but it performs well when running at its highest setting. You can set it on the floor or a tabletop, and, at just around six pounds, it’s lightweight and compact enough to move around easily. You’ll also spend relatively little on replacement filters and electricity to run the device. Note that this model works well in smaller rooms, up to 144 square feet.
Vacuums
The Tineco Floor One S7 Pro Smart Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner scored impressive ratings in our wet pickup and stain removal tests and does decently at cleaning dry spills. The model comes with a dirt-detection feature that helps it adjust its cleaning accordingly. It also has a long average run time of 37 minutes, meaning you’re less likely to have to recharge it in the middle of cleaning. It’s currently selling at the lowest price we’ve seen in the last three months.
The Shark Rocket HV301 comes with a 30-foot cord and can be converted into a hand vacuum, adding to its convenience. We found it to be excellent at sucking up debris from bare floors and picking up pet hair. It also does a decent job of cleaning carpets. You’ll be getting this at the lowest price we’ve seen in months.

Sleep Essentials
The Coop Home Goods Premium Adjustable Loft Pillow is made of shredded memory foam and excels in our tests for support, no matter your size or sleep position. The Coop also keeps its shape well, showing little to no change in height or fluffiness in our resilience tests. Each pillow comes with extra foam, so you can adjust the filling to your liking. The only area where this pillow falls a bit short is in breathability—it sleeps slightly warm.
This sheet set was recently on sale for $116, but just dropped further, making it a great time to get a new set. You’re going to experience quite a bit of wrinkling with the Hotel Collection Egyptian cotton sheets, but if you don’t mind pulling out the steamer to get your sheets smooth, you have a winner with this set. It provides a great fit for mattresses up to 10 inches thick, and it can withstand quite a bit of stretching and pulling. Plus, it aced our shrinkage test—just one of five cotton sheets in our ratings to do so.
Buffy Cloud Comforter
Buffy’s Cloud Comforter is the softest choice in our at-home assessment, and it’s now down to the lowest price we’ve seen at Amazon. Thanks to its smooth, silky feel and fluffiness, the duvet is comfortable enough to use without a duvet cover. Made of recycled materials, it’s uniformly stuffed in layers to prevent clumping and shedding. The shell material is 100 percent sateen-weave Tencel lyocell.

Cleaning Products
The Labigo Electric Spin Scrubber comes with four different cleaning heads (large flat, small flat, pointed corner, and large round). It has a single speed and weighs 26 ounces with its extension handle. The unit’s battery is located in the handle, and its head is fixed at 45 degrees, so this unit may not fit into tighter spaces.
Swiffer PowerMop
If you want a mop that helps you clean that spilled orange juice quickly and without extra equipment, this is the mop for you. It excels at cleaning liquid spills, and the included cleaning solution makes cleaning a breeze. Just spray, mop, and toss the cleaning pad into the trash.
Flashlights
GearLight S1000 LED Tactical Flashlight
The GearLight S1000 LED Tactical Flashlight offers a lot of bang for your buck. It boasts a good amount of brightness, long battery life, and dual power. At 5.5 ounces, it’s pretty light, and it’s also compact in size—which makes it ideal for users concerned about storage space or portability. The flashlight lasted for more than 24 hours in our run-time test and was one of only three models to do so.
Anker Recharghable Bolder LC90 Flashlight
We like the Anker Rechargeable Bolder LC90 Flashlight, which includes a strobe and SOS mode. It performs well in brightness, beam distance, and coverage angle tests, and it’s lightweight. The flashlight runs on rechargeable batteries, but our ergonomics expert pointed out that the charging port can be difficult to access because users have to unscrew its base first.
Humidifiers
This large dual-mist room humidifier for spaces between 500 and 999 feet does a lot of things well, from output to efficiency to low noise and convenience. It’s got a nightlight as well as an indicator and a shutoff when the tank is empty. It also comes with a remote.
The inexpensive Levoit Dual 200S Smart checks a lot of boxes, particularly when it comes to output, noise, and efficiency. It’s programmable from your smartphone, has an indicator for an empty tank, and a digital humidity display.
The low-priced, ultrasonic Levoit Classic 300S can humidify a room of up to 505 square feet, which earns it a solid rating in our output test. It aces other evaluations too. It has a variety of features including automatic shut-off, a digital humidity display more accurate than those of most competitors, and the option to diffuse aromas.
Dehumidifiers
The small-capacity hOmeLabs HME020030N can tackle roughly 22 pints of water a day with a tank size that holds 7 pints of water at once. Among its many features are a digital display that’s coupled with a timer, frost control, built-in cord storage, and an alert for when its filter needs cleaning. It earns high scores in our tests when it comes to water removal and humidistat accuracy, showing no discernible flaws in performance. Based on data from our member survey, it gets impressive scores for predicted reliability as well.
The Midea MAD35S1QWT is our top performer among tested humidifiers, removing 35 pints of moisture from the air per day. Meant for midsized or large rooms that are somewhat damp but not wet, this Midea aces our tests of water removal, energy efficiency, and convenience. Plus, it’s quiet. Also known as the Midea Cube 35, it‘s equipped with a digital display, a built-in water pump, and a timer.
Room Fans
Dreo Air Circulator PolyFan 311
In our evaluation, this pick by Dreo was considered the “best pedestal fan” because it has a wide wind-speed range, an adjustable tilt head, and an adjustable height. It was also one of the most energy-efficient fans we tested. It’s sleek-looking and comes with a convenient remote control.
Lawn Care
Gardena Sileno Minimo (2,700 sq. ft.)
For a fraction of the cost of the other three robot lawn mowers we tested, the Gardena Sileno Minimo left our lawn mostly smooth, with some patches of unmowed grass. The Gardena has no awareness of having completed a mowing session—if you schedule it to work for three hours like we did, it will mow and charge, then mow again, until it has been working for the set time. Both times that it returned to the charging station due to low battery—its power was at 39 and 38 percent—it still had plenty of juice to make it back to its base.
Husqvarna Automower 415X
Runner-up in our robot lawn mower evaluations, The Husqvarna Automower was slow to mow, but left behind impressive results. The grass in the plot was evenly cut, even though the robot drove through it in a random, disorganized pattern. Through a connected app, you can view a satellite image of your yard with the mower’s path clearly depicted in the image and adjust the blades’ cutting height.
While it’s not at the very top of our ratings, there’s plenty to like in this Ego leaf blower. It’s effective, easy to use, and, like all Ego lawn tools, it has a battery that can be swapped between tools, so you can use one battery while charging another. It’s worth noting that Ego has some newer leaf blowers that perform slightly better, but most will set you back at least $100 more.
The Husqvarna 320iL is a top-of-the-line battery string trimmer from a brand that’s best known for its premium gas-powered tools. This tool boasts solid performance and a battery that can power lawn mowers, leaf blowers, or chainsaws on Husqvarna’s 40-volt platform.
The 21-inch Ego LM2156SP self-propelled battery mower, a CR Green Choice, aces our tests of cutting evenness, mulching, handling, and side discharging. It also got top marks in our noise tests, meaning it’s among the quietest for both users and their neighbors. Its bagging performance lags those other scores a bit, though. Its high wheels make navigating uneven terrain easier, and it can be stored upright to save space in your garage. Run time is outstanding: With the included batteries, this model ran longer than most. Owner satisfaction with this mower is top-notch, but its predicted reliability is unexceptional.
Greenworks GPW3000 Pressure Washer
The electric-powered Greenworks pressure washer is very easy to use, and relatively quiet while operating. Our tests found its cleaning performance and power to be midlevel, but Greenworks earned a top predicted reliability rating in our surveys, meaning that the brand’s pressure washers tend to last long in homes. This model comes with 5 nozzle tips, solid wheels—the cleaning tip is replaceable.
Showerheads
The Hopopro 6-function showerhead is an easy-to-use handheld shower with variable settings for different users. In our tests it provided a nice-feeling shower while using minimal water. We tested it with a 1.8-gallon-per-minute (GPM) flow restrictor in place, but it comes with a 2.5GPM restrictor if you want more pressure.
This showerhead from Hopopro is a best-seller on Amazon for a reason: It delivers steady pressure while using just 1.3 gallons of water per minute. It comes in five finishes and has five spray settings that are easy to adjust.
Solar Outdoor Lights
Lerekam Solar Spot Lights are among the priciest outdoor spotlights we’ve reviewed, but our tests found they offered tremendous performance. They can be angled, installed with ground spikes (included), or screwed to other surfaces. They have an on/off button and can be recharged with a USB cable (also included). Each of the lights in the six-pack has 40 LEDs, resulting in intense white light that shines wide over an area, not unlike a flashlight.
It’s hard to contend with the value offered by the Gigalumi Grid Solar Pathway Lights. Their cost is lower (on a per-light basis) than just about any other path light we’ve seen, though this discount is only about $2 less than their usual price. There’s a single setting, an on/off button, and a removable battery, but the lights can’t be charged or angled.
The JSOT Outdoor Solar Deck Lights, are stellar deck lights that emit a medium-bright light. Each fixture contains 3 LEDs. While the lights can’t be charged with a cable, they have an on/off switch, so you can turn them off to build up power if you’re concerned about their charge.
Washing Machines
One of the most budget-friendly top-load agitators in our tests, especially now that it’s back down to its best price, the LG WT7005CW delivers across the board. This eco-friendly Green Choice washer isn’t the gentlest on clothes, but it conserves energy and water. It’s among the quietest models in our tests and causes little to no vibration, meaning it won’t disturb you with rumbling. The cycle time is 70 minutes using the normal-wash, heavy-soil setting. Shorten it by using the normal-soil setting when you can.
The LG WT8405CW is among the best top-load agitator washers in our ratings. Don’t be scared off by its long 90-minute wash cycle—it offers excellent cleaning performance and water efficiency, and a very good energy rating (it’s Energy Star certified). This model features a unique design with a white cabinet and black lid, complete with digital display, dial controls, and 5.3-cubic-foot capacity, which can easily handle large loads, including comforters. It has a stainless steel tub, auto detergent dispensers, an extra rinse cycle, and remote WiFi access so that you can track the timing of your loads from wherever you happen to be.
This eco-friendly washer is one of the highest rated front-loaders in CR’s ratings—and one of the priciest. This deal makes it a good time to buy this model. Supplies of the LG Signature WM9500HKA are limited, though. The washer comes in a sleek black design with huge 5.8 capacity, and its a CR Green Choice model, meaning it’s water and energy efficient with a relatively low environmental impact.
Overall, the Electrolux ELFW4222AW performs very well across CR’s tests. Its washing performance and water efficiency are excellent, and its energy efficiency, its gentleness on clothes, and the vibration levels during its 65-minute operation earn very good ratings. In our most recent surveys, CR members reported that Electrolux, as a company, had excellent predicted reliability. (Electrolux and LG are the only companies with a compact washing machine that achieves this rating.) But its owner satisfaction score is only adequate.
This sleek black LG WT8600CB is an HE washing machine with first-rate cleaning performance and water efficiency, coupled with minimal vibration. It also earns an impressive rating for energy efficiency and has an Energy Star certification. It can handle big loads with its 5.5-cubic-foot stainless steel tub, but you’ll want to be careful when washing your delicates. LG’s HE washing machines earn top marks for predicted reliability in CR’s latest member survey, indicating that they’re less likely to develop problems or break within the first five years. Additional braided stainless steel washer fill hoses are recommended for this machine.
The LG WT7150CW ranks among the top high-efficiency washing machines in CR’s tests, primarily for its first-rate cleaning performance, water efficiency, and vibration. It also earns a top rating for energy efficiency, but its gentleness on clothes is middling. It can still handle big loads within its slight interior and exterior frame: 5 cubic feet, 44.5 inches high, 29.1 inches deep, and the standard 27 inches wide. LG’s HE washing machines earned top marks for predicted reliability in CR’s latest member survey, which means they’re less likely to develop problems or break within the first five years.
The Samsung WA50R5200AW is an energy- and water-efficient HE top-loader with 5 cubic feet of capacity, more than enough for a bulky comforter, and a stainless steel tub—those tubs typically last longer that tubs made other materials. The machine is Energy Star certified, and it washes a load faster than most washers in our ratings.
The eco-friendly Samsung WA44A3205AW proves both water- and energy-efficient in our tests, and qualifies for Green Choice status. What’s more, this CR recommended top-loader features an active agitator which is designed to reduce noise, vibration and tangling (a typical problem with washers of this type). It’s a budget friendly CR Smart Buy at its regular price, and it’s currently $375 off the MSRP with an additional $100 rebate, bringing the effective price to $375. It has 4.4 cubic feet of claimed capacity and a quick cycle time of 70 minutes. It features a soft-close lid, eight wash cycles (including a self-clean setting), auto temperature control, an auto detergent dispenser, and a stainless steel tub.
Clothes Dryers
The LG DLG3471W gas dryer shares impressive performance with several other LG models in our tests (the LG DLG7401WE and the LG DLGX6501W), but it’s less expensive than both while offering similar performance. That said, this is a basic machine that’s a bit short on extras. If you’re looking for a steam option, WiFi, or a stainless steel drum, you’ll want to pay a little more for the DLGX6501W. Whichever model you choose, you’ll be buying from a brand with high marks from CR members for reliability and owner satisfaction.
The LG DLGX5501W offers great performance and some nice extras at a moderate price. It scores admirably in our tests for drying performance, convenience, and noise, and offers a steam option, extended tumble, and WiFi capability—and it’s our top-rated dryer. Its stainless steel drum has a 7.4-cubic-foot capacity. In our surveys, CR members rank LG gas dryers tops in both reliability and owner satisfaction.
There’s a lot to like about this sleek, matte black LG DLEX8600BE electric dryer, which is Energy Star certified. It’s a strong performer, is quiet and easy to operate, and comes loaded with useful features like extended tumble, a moisture sensor, a steam option, WiFi, and a duct blockage indicator. With its 7.3-cubic-foot stainless steel drum, capacity won’t be an issue, even for large bedding. But at 43 inches high, it’s a tad taller than most of the other dryers we test, and it’s not stackable.
The Energy Star certified Samsung DV25B6900EW compact dryer earns CR’s Green Choice designation for being among the most eco-friendly models in our ratings. This 4-cubic-foot-capacity dryer gets high scores for both drying performance and noise, and an average score for convenience. It offers extras that include a moisture sensor, a stainless steel drum, and WiFi capability. As a brand, Samsung compact dryers get a very good mark from CR members for reliability but a mediocre mark for owner satisfaction.
The LG DLE3400W should perform similarly to the CR-tested LG DLEX3700W (now discontinued). The tested model delivers solid performance across the board, nabbing an ace rating for noise and ratings near the top in our drying and convenience tests. This stackable Energy Star certified machine, with a claimed capacity of 7.4 cubic feet, is equipped with a moisture sensor, an extended tumble, custom programs, and an end-of-cycle signal—offering all these features at a fairly low price.
If you’re in the market for a gas dryer, you can snag this CR-recommended model at half off the original price. Not only does the LG DLGX7901BE score highly in CR’s performance ratings, it also features a durable stainless steel drum, a moisture sensor that turns off the dryer when clothes are dry, a steam setting to dewrinkle your clothes, and a duct blockage indicator to warn you against vent clogs before they become a hazard.
Mattresses
Avocado makes some top-notch mattresses, and this sale is a great chance to save on one. (The Green usually goes for $1,999, and the Green Pillowtop is priced at $2,799.) Both Avocado mattresses support a wide range of side- and back-sleeper body types. On our firmness scale, the Avocado Green is very firm and the Green Pillowtop is medium-firm. If you’re a digital CR member, log in to save just a bit more.
The Leesa Studio mattress is back to its lowest sale price, dropping another $40 recently. It’s an exceptional choice for petite back sleepers, as it earned top marks in that lab test. Petite side sleepers and average and large/tall back sleepers will find the mattress offers very good support. But average and large/tall side sleepers may want to consider other options because the Studio had only average performance in those simulated tests.
The Sleep Number C2 earns a stellar rating for petite and average back-sleeper support and scores very well in our support tests for all other sleepers. Those sleeping with a partner will appreciate that this bed is quite stable, so movement throughout the night remains mostly isolated. CR members who own a Sleep Number mattress are very happy with their purchase, and the brand earns a top-tier comfort rating.

Air Conditioners
If you’re looking to cool a big room, this Frigidaire window air conditioner is a solid pick. It’s got conventional user controls, but employs inverter technology inside the unit to increase or decrease the power of the compressor, resulting in a unit that’s quieter, more energy efficient, and better at cooling a room and keeping it cool.
