    Pillows

The Weekender Gel Memory Foam pillow marries the cooling properties of a gel pad with polyurethane foam. It offers only average support for back sleepers, but it’s very good at supporting those who sleep on their side. Our testers find the resiliency and breathability of the pillow to be top-notch, as is its breathability.

CR's expert guidance and unbiased reviews can help you purchase with confidence.

The Tuft & Needle Original Foam Pillow, constructed from polyurethane foam and featuring a micro-polyamide and polyester cover, impressed testers with its exceptional breathability. Our lab tests indicate that it’s an excellent option for side sleepers, although it may be less suitable for back sleepers. Users can expect consistent firmness, height, and support over time.

The Plank by Brooklyn Bedding Premium Shredded Foam pillow topped our tests, delivering excellent, lasting support for both back and side sleepers. It stands out for its breathability and cooling properties, and an adjustable fill design that allows you to fine-tune the firmness. Side sleepers may remove about a quarter, while back sleepers may prefer to remove half. It’s now 30% off with BFRIDAY30

Side and back sleepers may find the GhostBed pillow, featuring a breathable and washable cover, quite dreamy. Sold as a set of two, it features shredded memory foam and polyester gel fibers that can be removed or added to achieve your ideal level of support. Though it earns only average marks for resilience, it excels in breathability—and this two-pack is a bargain on Amazon compared with other retailers.

The standard size two-pack was on sale for Black Friday and is now sold out at Amazon, but you can score two Queen pillows for a very tidy discount.

The Coop Sleep Goods Premium Adjustable Loft pillow is made of shredded memory foam and excels in our tests for support, no matter your size or sleep position. It’s quite versatile, too. The pillow comes with extra foam, allowing you to adjust the filling to your preferred level of comfort. It also keeps its shape well, showing little or no change in height or fluffiness in our resilience tests. Our panel of testers was also impressed by its look and feel. The only area where this pillow falls a bit short is in its ability to allow air to circulate effectively. It sleeps slightly warm.

    Sheets

Coop is the brand that introduced the "original" adjustable pillow to the market, and it appears to have another top-rated bedding product on its hands. Coop Sleep Goods ComphySoftSpa sheets excelled in our shrinkage and fit tests, proving they’ll stay securely on your mattress even after multiple washes. These polyester linens won’t wrinkle much, and their pleasing strength test results mean they’ll stand the test of time.

Cool, breathable, and incredibly soft, the Buffy Breeze Sheet Set stands out among synthetic fiber options. It earns top marks for fit and softness and holds up well in tests for shrinkage, strength, and wrinkling. Designed for mattresses up to 14 inches deep, these eucalyptus-based sheets stay smooth and stay put, and even include directional tags to make bed-making a breeze (no pun intended).

According to our sensory test, the Lands’ End Premium Supima Cotton Sheet Set is one of the softest in our ratings. Though you will experience some wrinkling, it still performs better than most natural cotton sheets in our wrinkling assessment. With an excellent fit for mattresses 14 inches thick and under, minimal shrinkage, and a very strong weave, it is a solid choice. At nearly $92 off, it’s the lowest we’ve seen it go all season.

If you don’t mind synthetics, the Mellanni brushed microfiber sheet set is a soft, wrinkle-resistant standout that retains its shape and strength even after a year of washing. It’s durable and smooth, though best suited for mattresses 10 inches deep or less, despite its “deep pockets” claim.

The Boll & Branch Percale Solid sheet set is designed to fit mattresses up to 14 inches deep and features directional tags for easier bed making. It scores well in terms of fit, with average performance in terms of strength, shrinkage, and wrinkling. A decent everyday option, especially if you value soft percale and thoughtful design touches.

    Duvets

    Brooklinen Down Comforter

    Brooklinen Down Comforter

Brooklinen’s down comforter stands out for its high-quality construction, ultra-soft feel, and excellent temperature regulation. Available in both down and down-alternative options, it comes in lightweight, all-season, or ultra-warm varieties. The all-season down version is cozy and breathable, with no noticeable clumping or feather leakage. Its sateen shell adds a touch of luxury, and features a grid design and corner ties to keep it in place. Though pricey, it’s a worthwhile investment for those seeking top-tier comfort. Brooklinen also offers a 365-day return policy (minus a $9.95 fee). The duvet is Downmark certified.

    Buffy Cloud Comforter

    Buffy Cloud Comforter

Buffy’s Cloud Comforter is the softest choice in our at-home assessment. Thanks to its smooth, silky feel and fluffiness, the duvet is comfortable enough to use without a duvet cover. Made of recycled materials, it’s uniformly stuffed in layers to prevent clumping and shedding. The shell material is 100 percent sateen-weave Tencel lyocell.

Clean Design Home x Martex Anti-Allergen Down Alternative Comforter

Clean Design Home x Martex Anti-Allergen Down Alternative Comforter

The Clean Home Design comforter is a solid pick for cold sleepers or those in cooler climates. Its hefty, down-alternative fill and tightly woven cotton cover deliver serious warmth and a cocoon-like feel—though some may find the weight a bit restrictive. Designed with allergy-conscious sleepers in mind, the micro-barrier fabric aims to block dust and bedbugs, and it carries Made in Green by Oeko-Tex and BCI certifications. At 94 by 108 inches, it’s also larger than most king-size comforters, providing full coverage and elegant draping inside a duvet cover.

    Heated Blankets

    Bedsure Heated Blanket

    Bedsure Heated Blanket

The Bedsure Electric Heated Flannel Blanket Throw might be a worthwhile purchase if you like to keep your home cold in the summer, but someone in the household prefers to stay warm. This blanket is thin and light. Though it’s cozy, it resembles an inexpensive fleece blanket you’d find at a grocery store. One side is striped flannel and the other is linty fleece. The flannel isn’t the best quality, but it does get hot. And it has the lightest wires of the blankets we evaluated. Prices vary by color, and the option shown here is the lowest price available.

    Mattress Toppers

This 2-inch memory-foam topper provides great support while still allowing you to sink into it. And at 8 pounds, it’s not overly heavy to maneuver. It’s flippable, but this deal doesn’t come with a cover (though you can add one on yourself), and a lack of corner straps means it might shift around. You can return Linenspa products for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

Viscosoft’s gel-infused memory foam topper is reasonably plush but still has a medium to medium-firm feel, based on my experience lying on it. Like the Dormeo, it earns first-rate marks for support and convenience. But this topper envelops the body more than the Dormeo, scoring on the warmer side for heat retention. Our lab data suggests that those who sleep hot are likely to feel that difference. Additional features include corner straps to help keep it in place and a removable machine-washable rayon cover. The topper can also be flipped and rotated, though it weighs 27 pounds (among the heaviest on this list), so you might need a helper. Viscosoft offers a full refund up to 90 days after purchase if you’re not satisfied with your topper. It’s also backed by a five-year warranty from the date of original purchase.

    Air Purifiers

The portable Blue Pure 211i Max does a terrific job of removing dust, pollen, and smoke on its higher setting, but expect some noise. Try it on low, and you’ll have more quiet while still experiencing top-notch results. This model is designed for use in a space of 350 to 650 square feet and costs approximately $109 per year to maintain. It also weighs just 17 pounds, making it easy to move around. Other Blueair models are also on sale, but the 211i Max has the steepest discount.

The Levoit PlasmaPro 600S is a solid performer all-around, clearing the air of dust, pollen, and smoke at both higher and lower settings with great results. It’s noisy while running at a high speed, but it’s relatively quiet at low speeds, making it ideal for an office or bedroom. And you don’t have to worry about keeping track of filter changes: An indicator light alerts you when it’s time. This machine also has a dust sensor and a programmable timer.

    Air Mattresses

The 17-inch-high Simmons Beautyrest Hi Loft Raised is nearly half the cost of the most expensive air mattress in our ratings, and it performs better than the pricier models. During the initial inflation in our convenience tests, our testers found it took about 3 minutes to reach full firmness; it then took 4 minutes to let all that air out. It earns an Excellent rating on our deflection test, meaning this is an easier mattress to get up off after you sit down. This model comes with a detachable electric pump and storage bag, and it folds down to 6x12x17 inches.

    Hair Bonnets

    PrinceHairCompany Satin Bonnet

    PrinceHairCompany Satin Bonnet

The PrinceHairCompany bonnet is beautiful, soft, and roomy—perfect for those with long hair or protective styles. Its adjustable tie offers a secure, comfortable fit without leaving marks. However, its oversized design can feel bulky or hot for short-haired sleepers, and it may slide around overnight.

    Eye Masks

    Mzoo Sleep Mask

The Mzoo Sleep Mask proves that great design doesn’t need fancy branding. Our testers praised its excellent light blocking, comfortable memory foam padding, and adjustable slider strap that stays secure without snagging hair. The contoured eye cups keep fabric off the eyelids—ideal for those with long lashes or sensitive eyes—and the mask fits a wide range of head sizes. It’s not stylish, but it’s practical, affordable, and highly effective. For most sleepers, this no-frills mask is a clear winner for comfort and total darkness.

    Baloo Sleep Mask

The Baloo Sleep Stone Mask is plush and cozy, and ideal for those who run cold or enjoy feeling cocooned while sleeping. It offers excellent noise muffling and nearly full-face coverage, making it great for cold environments or plane travel. That said, it may feel too warm in summer, and drawbacks include a loud, tangly Velcro that can easily trap strands. While its silk upgrade and included crystal disc may appeal to fans of crystals and luxury, the high price may outweigh the benefits for some people.
