If you’re looking to upgrade your bedroom without replacing your mattress, there are plenty of budget-friendly ways to turn it into a sleep sanctuary. You can almost always find discounts on everything from sheets and pillows to mattress toppers and air purifiers, so you can get quality items without having to pay full price. Since the holidays just ended, there aren’t quite as many deals right now, but you can expect more sales throughout the month, as January is often a time when sleep accessories get discounted.
We monitor everything we test in our labs and evaluate in our homes so that we can alert you when the good stuff goes on sale. And we also do our best to give you insights into just how good the discounts really are. And if you’re looking for more than items to spruce up your bedroom, we’re tracking prices on everything we test. Check out the CR Deals hub to see our curation of the best offers available right now.
Pillows
Made of two layers of gel memory foam, Tempur-Pedic’s Tempur-Cloud Breeze Dual Cooling Pillow is the most expensive pillow we’ve tested. It’s top-notch when it comes to side-sleeper support but only middling for back-sleeper support. In our resilience test, this pillow successfully maintained its shape. Despite having “breeze” in its name, the pillow doesn’t allow for much airflow, so you may get sweaty sleeping on it. Only the cover is machine-washable.
Sheets
You’re going to experience quite a bit of wrinkling with the Hotel Collection Egyptian cotton sheets, but if you don’t mind pulling out the steamer to get your sheets smooth, you have a winner with this set. It provides a great fit for mattresses up to 10 inches thick, and it can withstand quite a bit of stretching and pulling. Plus, it aced our shrinkage test—just one of five cotton sheets in our ratings to do so. The price is now $30 more than it was for the holidays, but this is still a big discount.
Duvets
Brooklinen Down Comforter
Brooklinen’s down comforter stands out for its high-quality construction, ultra-soft feel, and excellent temperature regulation. Available in both down and down-alternative options, it comes in lightweight, all-season, or ultra-warm varieties. The all-season down version is cozy and breathable, with no noticeable clumping or feather leakage. Its sateen shell adds a touch of luxury, and features a grid design and corner ties to keep it in place. Though pricey, it’s a worthwhile investment for those seeking top-tier comfort. Brooklinen also offers a 365-day return policy (minus a $9.95 fee). The duvet is Downmark certified.
Heated Blankets
Sunbeam Royal Ultra Heated Throw
This Sunbeam heated blanket is made of a soft, lightweight polyester that’s like felted wool. The wires, which conduct heat throughout the fabric, are thicker and more visible than they are on the other two blankets we tried. But the heat in the Sunbeam is more evenly distributed, so it’s a trade-off well worth making.
Mattress Toppers
Lab tests find that this topper from Casper doesn’t allow users to sink in as deeply as others. This topper feels like an actual mattress, adding a touch of medium softness where needed without allowing the body to sink in too much. The two-layer cushion combines a layer of softer foam over a firmer base layer of foam. At a little under 16 pounds, it’s easy to move around, and its machine-washable zip-off cover made of polyester, cotton, rayon, and spandex makes it easy to clean. However, this topper can not be flipped. Casper offers a 30-night risk-free trial, and its toppers are backed by a 5-year limited mattress topper warranty.
Viscosoft’s gel-infused memory foam topper is reasonably plush but still has a medium to medium-firm feel, based on my experience lying on it. Like the Dormeo, it earns first-rate marks for support and convenience. But this topper envelops the body more than the Dormeo, scoring on the warmer side for heat retention. Our lab data suggests that those who sleep hot are likely to feel that difference. Additional features include corner straps to help keep it in place and a removable machine-washable rayon cover. The topper can also be flipped and rotated, though it weighs 27 pounds (among the heaviest on this list), so you might need a helper. Viscosoft offers a full refund up to 90 days after purchase if you’re not satisfied with your topper. It’s also backed by a five-year warranty from the date of original purchase. The price is $45 less than it was in December.
Air Purifiers
The Blueair Blue Pure 311i Max Air Purifier features an indicator light to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and four speeds. On its higher setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. It’s easy to use, and is designed for use in a large space of 350 to 650 square feet. CR members find Blueair air purifiers to be highly reliable, and they’re very satisfied with their purchases.
The HoMedics AP-T200 has impressive performance and an attractive design, similar to the AP-C500. It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running. The major difference—this model is designed for medium rooms of 150-350 square feet, so it’s smaller in size and has a smaller price tag. It’s now about $20 more than it was last month.
A portable purifier that keeps your air clean and matches your mid-century modern design aesthetic—yes, please. The HoMedics AP-C500 is a large-room air purifier with a budget-friendly price tag (and an additional 20 percent off coupon makes this deal even friendlier). It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running.
Humidifiers
The low-priced, ultrasonic Levoit Classic 300S can humidify a room of up to 505 square feet, which earns it a solid rating in our output test. It aces other evaluations too. It has a variety of features including automatic shut-off, a digital humidity display more accurate than those of most competitors, and the option to diffuse aromas. And now it’s back down to the lowest price we saw in 2025.
This humidifier, rated for small rooms, is a fantastic balance of quality and price. It’s plenty capable, and it has an indicator when the water level is low, so it’s easy to know when you need to add more (and it shuts off automatically if you don’t get there in time).
Room Fans
Vornado Flippi V6 Personal Air Circulator
If you’re looking for a small fan to keep things cool on a bedside table and provide a little white noise, this little Vornado model could fit the bill. It’s quiet and fairly versatile, with a 180-degree tilt and two speed settings.
Hair Bonnets
PrinceHairCompany Satin Bonnet
The PrinceHairCompany bonnet is beautiful, soft, and roomy—perfect for those with long hair or protective styles. Its adjustable tie offers a secure, comfortable fit without leaving marks. However, its oversized design can feel bulky or hot for short-haired sleepers, and it may slide around overnight.
