If you’re looking to shop without spending too much, there are plenty of products for sale that will cost you less than $50. The best part? They all perform really well in our lab tests and at-home evaluations, so you can trust you’re getting a good product at a great price.
Based on my observations of these items throughout the year, I strive to put prices into context. I look for discounts that are actually better than usual, so I can help you get a really stellar deal when you click that order button. But if something is always “on sale” for a certain price, it may not actually be the deal it appears to be. That said, it could still be a good value if the product works well, especially when it’s under $50. I want to ensure you have all the information, so you know exactly what you’re getting, either way.
This list focuses on items that cost $50 or less, from headphones to kitchen appliances and more. To see what else is on sale, visit the CR Deals hub, where I share all the deals I find.
Kitchen
If you’re looking for a basic toaster that will serve up perfectly consistent toast for breakfast in the morning (or anytime for that matter) the Hamilton Beach Gourmet 22996 2-Slice toaster may just fit the bill. This model earned top marks in our tests for one-slice and full-batch toasting, as well as color range. The downside? The toaster’s exterior and crumb tray may be tricky to clean, our testers warn. But that may not matter at a price this low.
Zulay Kitchen Rotary Cheese Grater
The Zulay Kitchen Rotary Cheese Grater is a versatile and user-friendly tool with five interchangeable blades that are perfect for grating cheese, though the brand says it can also be used on nuts and some veggies. Left-handed users can even easily turn the gadget for seamless operation.
This was the only grater with extra surfaces and a handy container to store them. It is a bulky device overall—it stands at 11.25 inches tall, so it won’t fit into most drawers—and is meant to fit in a cabinet or sit on the counter.
ThermoPro’s SmartBT Meat Thermometer TP920 is one of the lower-priced leave-in two-probe wireless thermometers. It sends instant temperature readings to your smartphone via Bluetooth, offering excellent response time and accuracy. The easy-to-use app estimates the remaining cooking time for nearly all cuts and varieties of meat based on guidelines from the Department of Agriculture.
Ogednac Electric Salt and Pepper Grinder Set
The Ogednac Electric Salt and Pepper Grinder Set is less powerful than many of the other grinders we tried, with a 20-second lag between starting the mill and dispensing the product. The grind is very smooth, and the finest setting creates fine powder. It’s also quiet and easy to handle, especially for kids. And the LED lights show how charged the battery is and illuminate where the salt and pepper landed. But it’s hard to clean because the reservoir doesn’t detach from the mill.

Tymo Ring Straightening Comb
The Tymo Ring Straightening Comb is $7 more than its best price. We did just see that discount a week or so ago, so maybe add this one to your cart and keep an eye on it in case better savings become available again. CR writer and product tester Jodhaira Rodriguez was impressed with how well and how quickly this comb straightened her frizzy, dry hair. It’s shaped like a traditional hair comb with smooth, horizontal teeth. Because of the smoothness of the bristles, hair isn’t gripped as it passes through the comb; it glides smoothly just like a comb does, as long as the hair is detangled. It has five temperature settings that range from 266° F to 410° F, and an auto-shutoff feature that turns the straightening comb off after 30 minutes.
Nektek Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager
This massager, made famous on TikTok, falls in the middle of the pack in terms of pricing, compared with the other models we evaluated. The reviewer found that the nodes pressed into their neck in an uncomfortable way, but two others who tried it loved it, so you might find the massager is just right or not right at all (but don’t worry—there’s a 30-day return window on Amazon). However, when it came to heat, this massager really shone. It reaches temperatures of 109° F. You can use this massager on various body parts, and it even comes with a car adapter, making it a boon for road trips.
Cleaning
The Labigo Power Spin Scrubber comes with four different cleaning heads (large flat, small flat, pointed corner, and large round). It has a single speed and weighs 26 ounces with its extension handle. The unit’s battery is located in the handle, and its head is fixed at 45 degrees, so this unit may not fit into tighter spaces. This discount will apply when you check out.
The Leebein Power Spin Scrubber ANS-8050 is a strong scrubber with an incredibly long battery life. It can last about an hour on its highest power mode, so it’s unlikely that it will die on you in the middle of cleaning. If the battery is entirely depleted, however, it will take a while to recharge. (In our tests, it took more than 3 hours.)
The scrubber has two speeds: 300 rpm and 400 rpm. It scores well for ease of use because it comes with 8 attachments, the most among the models we tested, including a scouring brush for greasy kitchen areas, a sponge brush for glass, a wool-like brush for polishing a car, and cloth brushes for leather and floor cleaning. It’s also relatively light and features an extension wand that extends up to 50 inches, giving you a wide reach. The angle of the scrubber’s head is fixed and can’t be adjusted. Unlike some of the other models, it comes with an IPX7 waterproof rating, meaning it can withstand brief immersion in water.
Swiffer PowerMop
The Swiffer PowerMop is a great all-in-one option for keeping floors clean. The cleaning solution is attached to the mop, allowing you to spray as you go. It uses single-use pads so you can just throw them away when you’re done (but there are plenty of reusable options out there, too). It works on most surfaces, and our testers were impressed with its ability to mop up liquids but found it struggled with dirt, pushing it around more than picking it up. But if you’ve got dirt covered with a broom or vacuum, the Swiffer PowerMop can be a great companion cleaner.
Bathroom
The Boss Bidet Luxury is one of only three models that earn the highest possible score for cleaning in our labs. It offers dual nozzles for front and rear cleaning, but it doesn’t have a hot water option. Easy to install, it comes preassembled and includes an alignment guide to help you position it correctly. You do have to remove the toilet seat to install, though. The controls are fairly simple to use, allowing you to switch between the front and rear nozzles easily. The spray angle for each nozzle is fixed, though. The Boss Bidet Luxury also doesn’t offer the flip-up feature, which makes it less convenient to clean the surrounding toilet.
The Clear Rear Buttler Bidet offers dual nozzles and reliable cleaning power, which is impressive given the reasonable price. You can also count on easy setup: It comes preassembled and offers a guide for easy alignment with the back rim of your toilet. You can control the pressure of the water, but you can’t adjust the spray nozzles to point in different directions. The bidet also doesn’t easily flip up, as some models do, which can make regular cleaning of your toilet bowl and the surrounding area a bigger chore. This model doesn’t have a warm water option.
Seville Classics 2-Tier Expandable Under-the-Sink Organizer
If the cabinet under your sink is tall enough, a two-tier organizer like this can be a game-changer. Not only will you gain access to additional surface area for storage, but it can also be a great way to corral items without having to purchase a separate basket or bin. This expandable shelf can be customized to fit a variety of cabinet sizes.
Sleep
Guohaoi Cooling Blanket
The Guohaoi Cooling Blanket was the second most cooling blanket we tested. When wearing it for an hour, the evaluator reported it felt very cool and didn’t retain heat. The front of this blanket is constructed with nylon and polyester and feels like smooth, cool, swimsuit material. The back is made from Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified cotton. The stitching isn’t the neatest and feels a little inexpensive, and the two layers aren’t attached, but you can often expect some shortcomings for lower-priced items, and the important thing is that this blanket has a cooling effect as advertised.
Utopia Bedding Duvet Insert
The Utopia Bedding duvet insert is perfect if you don’t want to spend a ton on a new comforter. I have one that I’ve been using for the past three years, and I find it to be lightweight and perfect for warmer nights. And with a good duvet cover, it gets cozy and warm. CR’s reviewer pointed out that it’s not as fluffy as other duvets (it is on the thinner side). The material is synthetic, so it doesn’t allow for the airflow that those made with natural fibers like cotton can provide.
Neck Fans
Jisulife Neck Fan
This neck fan may be a great tool to keep in your arsenal for hot days. For the price, you don’t get any bells and whistles like cooling or mist that you can find in pricier models. It simply blows air at three speeds. It’s also not adjustable, so you can’t aim the airflow, but the vents wrap all the way around the fan to cool your face and neck.
Panergy Bladeless Neck Fan
The Panergy bladeless neck fan is the same delightful shade of pink as its handheld fan (it also comes in white and black). Our tester found that it performs its basic function just fine, with the added perk of being super flexible: Its pliable silicone back allows it to be nearly as wide or as narrow as desired.
Smart Home
The TP-Link Tapo C225 offers a lot of value for its price. It’s a motorized pan-and-tilt camera with local video storage on a microSD card (not included) and a laundry list of features: person detection, pet detection, sound detection (for crying babies, glass breaking, dogs barking, cats meowing), color night vision, activity zones, motion tracking where the camera moves to follow the subject it’s recording, a privacy mode that covers the camera, a built-in siren, and voice and app control via Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home. It even supports Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video system, so you can store footage with end-to-end encryption in iCloud.
The Blink Wired Floodlight Cam is back down to its usual Prime Day sale price, which it has seemed to drop to almost without fail over the last few years. In our tests, it receives superb scores for video quality and response time, as well as a very good score for data security. It falls in the middle of the pack in terms of its smart features, and its data privacy guarantees are weak (a common issue across brands in this space). Its features include a siren, activity zones, voice/app control via Amazon Alexa, and up to 5 minutes of continuous live streaming. You can store footage locally without a subscription if you purchase a Blink Sync Module 2 ($50) and plug in a USB flash drive. Cloud video storage and other features (such as person detection) require a Blink Subscription Plan.
The Ring Stick Up Cam (Battery) is an all-around great camera, and it’s currently available at the lowest price we’ve ever seen. It works both indoors and outdoors and gives you activity zones, voice and app control via Amazon Alexa, and alert schedules so that you can silence alerts at certain times of day. In our tests, this Ring camera receives strong scores for daytime video quality, response time, and data security. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as person detection) require a Ring Home subscription.

Phomemo M110 Label Maker
The Phomemo M110 is the bigger, bulkier version of the Phomemo D30, which we also evaluated and liked. The M110 offers a bit more flexibility with the size of the label you’re creating. It uses the same app, and has a wide variety of fonts, styles, and images, with quick creation and easy label cutting. Its size, compared with the smaller Phomemo, makes it a bit less portable, and its alignment isn’t as precise when it comes to cutting the label exactly on the cut line compared with other label printers. But it’s still a solid option.

Woofigo Stainless Steel Litter Box
Stainless steel litter boxes have grown popular recently, thanks largely to the nonstick material that is much easier to clean than other traditional litter boxes. I personally own a stainless box for my cats, and it really is a simpler process to get everything disinfected when I change out the litter. And our evaluator had a similar experience, saying it only took a few swipes with soap and water and a generous rinsing to get it shining like new again. The one thing I will say is the sound of your cats digging around is much different (and much louder) when they’re scratching metal versus plastic.
