Solid surfacing

Solid surfacing is part of the Countertops test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Kitchen countertops models like the Solid surfacing are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Stains: Shows resistance to 20 common foods and household products.

Cutting: Reflects resistance to damage from weighted chef's and serrated knives used in slicing and chopping motions.

Heat: Gauges how well materials resisted damage and discoloration from a pot filled with oil heated to 400 degrees F.
