The earphone noise cancellation control default setting switches between ANC on and ambient sound monitor (Pass-through) modes by control on either earbud; the default settings can be customized using the Beats app and iOS enable or disable ANC on, ANC off, and ambient sound monitoring, or to swap this feature for another feature. Has touch control for music player transport, call connect/disconnect, noise cancellation and ambient sound on/off, digital voice assistant activation (off by default), and volume up/down (off by default). Noise cancellation, ambient sound on/off, digital voice assistant activation, and volume up/down can be swapped for each other in various combinations in settings using iOS or with Free Beats app download for Android devices as well as update firmware. Supports Apple Siri, Google Assistant, and compatible digital voice assistants when used with Bluetooth devices that have those capabilities and that, if needed, have the appropriate apps installed. Once paired to an Apple mobile device automatically pairs to all cloud connected Apple products on the same account. Apple Siri voice control can be activated by voice ("Hey Siri" wakeup phrase). Once paired to an Android mobile device automatically pairs to all Android or Chrome devices registered to the same Gmail account. Has quick charge feature: 5 min of charging will provide 1 hour of playtime. Bluetooth connected Apple mobile devices using iOS Version 5 and above will show the battery level. Supports Apple One-touch pairing and Google Fast Pair. Compatible with Apple "Find My Beats" and Google Find My Device app functions that can be used to locate lost on misplaced earphones. Sound quality:We found the Beats Studio Buds + delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks and excellent active noise reduction. With the noise cancelling mode engaged the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is somewhat prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but is somewhat grainy, a bit hazy and congested (think sonic traffic jam), and a touched etched (a bit more sharply outlined then it should be). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended but is somewhat prominent and a bit smeared and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound also has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears and does a decent job of recovering room ambience in the upper midrange. Mixed character - warmish bass with neutral midrange and treble. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat bassy and grainy. Noise Canceling: Excellent noise reduction across the entire frequency range with the low frequencies reduced the most. A very faint rushing sound can be heard in quiet environments when there is no audio program to drown it out. No significant difference from the beats by dre Beats Studio Buds.
Comfort and Fit:We found that these earphones as typical of in-ear models produce a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening might be uncomfortable for some.
Small
Users with small ear bowls might find that the earphone body feels a bit bulky in their ear bowl and that they stick out too far and feel like they may lever out of place, but that they will stay in place during casual use.
Medium/Large
Users with medium and large sized ear bowls will probably find this model stays in place with no problems for casual use and that they are stable during fairly vigorous head movement.
Incidental contact with the controls can cause unintentional playing or pausing.
Because of the shape of the earphone body and smooth texture some users may find the earphones hard to grasp and more prone to being dropped when handling them.
Some users might find pressing the various earphone controls drives the earphones farther into the ear canal and may cause ear discomfort.
