Design and features:This Bluetooth wireless noise canceling portable ear-insert model provides very good sound and very good active noise reduction. Its ear plug-like design and electronic noise canceling feature reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The headphones work with or without the noise canceling feature being turned on. You can use the noise-canceling feature without listening to music. The Elite 85t has a volume control plus an integrated microphone and player function controls. Additional features include Has "semi-isolating" ear insert design - earphones are vented and earpieces are designed not to insert deeply into the ear canal in order to reduce feeling of pressure in the ear canal. Right earpiece can be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications. Charging/carrying case has built-in rechargeable battery that the manufacture claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries approximately 3.5 times (to add an additional 19.5 hours with ANC for a total of 25 hours, or to add an additional 24 hours without ANC for a total of 31 hours), can be recharged via USB cable or with optional Qi compatible wireless charging mat. Sound quality: We found the Elite 85t delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks and very good active noise reduction. With the noise cancelling mode engaged and set at maximum and the Jabra Sound+ app equalizer set to flat and Music Presets set to Neutral (as received state of the earphone) the bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is somewhat prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even, but is a bit grainy, somewhat hazy, and the upper midrange is a touch etched (a bit more sharply outlined then it should be). The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but a touch smeared (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer sound blurred). While the sound has a decent sense of liveliness, it is somewhat closed (sound-wise it's fairly obvious you have something plugging your ears). Warm character. The overall sound can best be summarized as somewhat bassy and a bit grainy. The tone settings of the app do have a noticeable effect on the sound of these earphones. Although it provides Excellent noise reduction in the midrange and higher frequencies it is less effective at reducing low frequency noise so its overall noise reduction score drops to Very Good. Very faint hissing can be heard when there is no audio program to drown it out.
Comfort: We found that these earphones is a hybrid ear insert/ear bud design - the earpieces seal the ear canals but they don't insert into the ear canals as far as typical ear insert models, and they are supported by ear bowls like a ear bud model rather than the ear canals. Users with small ear bowls might find that the earphone body feels a bit bulky in their ear bowl and that they stick out too far and feel like they may lever out of place, but that they will generally stay in place during casual use. Users with medium sized ear bowls will probably find that this model fits and stays in place even during fairly vigorous head movement. Users with larger sized ear bowls will probably find that this model fits and stays in place even during fairly vigorous head movement. Some users might find pressing the various earphone controls drives the earphones farther into the ear bowl and may cause ear discomfort.
