    Detailed Test Results

    Design and features:

This portable earbud model provides fair sound. Its non-isolating design doesn't muffle outside sounds so you'll be able to hear that door bell ring, train announcement, or car horn when you are wearing these earphones. The earphones have very high sensitivity so they can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and even lower powered portable audio devices. The Gumy Sport with Mic and Remote has an integrated microphone and player function controls that are compatible with iPads, some iPods, and some iPhones and some other cellphones. The call connect/disconnect button can be used with some iPhones and some other cellphones. These earphones may not operate properly with some non-Apple/non-Android mobile devices or other audio equipment. Additional features include a Manufacturer claims water resistance IPX2 (except 1-button remote). Has inline 1-button remote & mic attached to right earbud cable that can play/pause, skip/prev track and answer and end calls on compatible devices that support this feature. The Gumy Sport with Mic and Remote comes with 2 pairs of ear pieces in different sizes, Instruction manual.

    Sound quality:

We found the Gumy Sport with Mic and Remote delivers sound quality that falls in the fair range - meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog and communication. The bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has so-so impact, is somewhat subdued, a bit "boingy" (sounds like a plucked rubber band) and doesn't go deep. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat hazy, grainy, and congested (think sonic traffic jam), and a bit plasticky; the mid-midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is somewhat prominent and can sound a bit harsh with some program material. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is extended, but is somewhat subdued and a bit smeared and sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound has a weak sense of liveliness, it is somewhat closed (sound-wise it's fairly obvious you have something plugging your ears); while it does a decent job of recovering room ambience in the midrange, room ambience retrieval is lacking elsewhere. Neutral character. The overall sound can be summarized as somewhat hazy, grainy, and congested, and bass-shy.

    Comfort and Fit:
This is a hybrid ear bud design - the ear pieces insert into the ear canals like in-ear models but don't seal the ear canals or produce a sense of pressure in them, and they are supported by the ear bowls like a ear bud model. Positioning this model in the ear can be a bit tricky - the ear pieces have very flexible tips and care must be taken when positioning the earphones not to fold these tips over which would muffle the sound in one or both ears. Users will probably find that they will stay in place with no problem for casual use and are very stable even with vigorous head movement. The sound of the earphone connecting cable rubbing on clothing may be heard through the earphones by some users depending on the clothing it's rubbing on.
