Design and features:These earphones have an integrated microphone and volume, music player function, and call connect/disconnect controls for use with paired Bluetooth devices. Additional features include NFC Bluetooth pairing, and the manufacturer claims that it is water resistant. The SoundSport comes with three pairs of ear pieces in various sizes, a USB charging cable, and a carrying case, and can be used with the free Bose Connect app download for Apple or Android mobile devices.
Sound quality: We found the SoundSport delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can best be summarized as somewhat bassy and a bit sizzly. Bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is somewhat prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even in general, but is slightly overwhelmed by the bass and the upper midrange is a touch etched (more sharply outlined then it should be) and grainy. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is fairly extended, but slightly sizzly (sounds that should have a delicate shimmer have a sound reminiscent of bacon frying). The sound has a good sense of liveliness and is somewhat open--sound-wise it almost seems like you don't have anything plugging up your ears.
Comfort: This is a hybrid ear insert/ear buddesign - the earpieces seal the ear canals but they don't insert into the ear canals as far as typical ear insert models, and they are supported by ear bowls like a earbud model rather than the ear canals. They fit and stay in place with no problem and are very stable even with vigorous head movement.
