Design and features:The Elite Sport has integrated microphones and volume, music player, call connect/disconnect, and activity tracker controls for use with paired Bluetooth devices. Additional features include a heart rate sensor that provides heart rate monitor feedback when used with the free Jabra Sport Life app download for Apple and Android mobile devices, and a monitor mode to let the user hear ambient sounds. Our tests showed the accuracy of the heart rate monitor to be poor. The right earphone can also be used alone for one ear monitoring of Bluetooth streamed audio and telephone communications. This model is claimed by the manufacturer to be water resistant and comes with six pairs of ear pieces in various types and sizes, three pairs of earbowl supports in various sizes, a USB charging cable, charging cradle/recharger battery/ carrying case that the manufacturer claims can be used to recharge the earphone batteries up to three times between its own charges.
Sound quality: We found the Elite Sport delivers sound quality that falls in the very good range - it reproduces music and voice very well although it does have some noticeable sonic quirks. The overall sound can best be summarized as mellow and somewhat bassy. Bass (as in bass drums, bass guitars, stand-up bass, etc.) has good impact and goes deep, but is somewhat prominent and boomy. The midrange (voices, guitars, horns, etc.) is fairly even but slightly soft and grainy. The treble (cymbals, the upper range of violins, etc.) is fairly extended and somewhat subdued. While the sound has a decent sense of liveliness it is somewhat closed-in -- sound-wise it is somewhat obvious that you have something plugging up your ears. Users with smaller earbowls might find that problems with fit may effect sound quality such as making the sound even more bass-heavy.
Comfort: As typical of in-ear models the Elite Sport produces a sense of pressure in the ear canal opening might be uncomfortable for some. Users with small ear bowls might find that this model feels too large even with the smallest ear bowl supports installed. Unless the user's ear bowls are too small, this earphone will stay in place with no problems and the ear bowl supports make the fit very secure even with vigorous head movement, but because of the size and weight of the ear pieces some users might get the impression that the fit is not particularly stable. If the size and/or shape of the user's earbowl doesn't allow good contact with the earphone's heart rate sensor the heart rate function won't be available. Some users might find that pushing on the earphone's control buttons when the earphones are installed in the ears causes ear discomfort because it pushes the earpiece uncomfortably into the earbowl and/or further into the ear canal.
