Design and features:Although this home/studio-style over-ear model lacks active noise reduction, the closed design helps to reduce both outside noise and sound leaking out into your environment. The headphones have high sensitivity, so they can provide satisfying volume levels even when used with lower-powered portable audio devices. This model has earcups that can fold for travel and storage, and they can swivel for one-ear monitoring if being used DJ style. The headphones come with a detachable 139-inch audio cable for home use, a detachable 41-inch portable audio cable, and a mini-plug-to-1/4-inch-plug adapter.
Sound quality: The HiFi DJ-Style Pro MHP-839 delivers good overall sound quality, with a neutral to warmish character. Bass has good impact but lacks a bit of definition and doesn't go deep. Midrange is a bit hazy and gritty, and has a slight plastic resonance. Treble is extended, but lower treble is a bit recessed and mid treble is a bit sizzly. Overall sound is a bit closed in, with decent dynamics.
Comfort: We found that these headphones produce a sense of medium pressure around the ears, and the earpads may feel hot and/or sticky after prolonged use.
