The Girlfriend Collective Tommy Cropped bra is a straightforward pull-on compression style bra, with no adjustable features. It comes in a wide range of sizes, from XXS (which the brand’s style guide says fits busts with a 30- to 31-inch circumference) to 6XL (which fits busts with a 58- to 60-inch circumference). The company was founded by a husband and wife team.

“I loved this bra!” wrote one evaluator, who typically wears a 36D. “It kept everything in place and could also double as a cute top under a jacket during warmer months. I got the brown color, which I don’t often see. Would totally recommend.” The color selection is among the best of any bra we tried—including the aforementioned brown, a gorgeous forest green, a rich plum, and a creamy off-white, as well as a standard black and navy.

The fabric is a thick, sturdy polyester-spandex blend, and the band and straps are wide, which helps create support along the ribs and across the shoulders.

Its lack of adjustability, however, was a problem for me, a 30DD. I bought the XS, which fits perfectly around the band, but it’s too small in the bust; as a result, I experienced a lot of spillage even while merely standing, while inverted poses and jumping proved outright dangerous. I’d definitely wear this bra under a fun cropped tank in summer, but I’ll leave the workouts to my peers, who had much better experiences with this bra than I did. Other folks with small bands and large busts—or, conversely, large bands and small busts—may find the lack of adjustability an issue. Those whose bra sizes tend to hover in the middle, or who find they rarely need to rely upon adjustable features to get a bra to feel supportive, will experience a lot of success at the gym in this cute bra.
