“My first thought when I unboxed the Shefit Flex was: Why is it so heavy? Second thought: Why is it so complicated? Third: Ugh, this is gonna be terrible,” wrote one evaluator.

It is a bit overwhelming at first. It closes in back with a wide, hook-and-loop lined band that threads through a large plastic clasp, while it also closes in front with tiny metal clasps, a zipper, and fabric flaps that cover the top and bottom of the zipper. The straps are thick and close with a fastener in the front in a similar manner to how it closes in the back.

But once you’ve gotten over the initial hurdle of understanding how this bra works, you’re in good hands. The incredible adjustability of this bra means you’ll probably be able to find the perfect fit for you. I’m a 30DD, and I initially ordered a bra that was too small for my cup size; it would have worked, but it was a bit cleavage-y. When I sized up to a Medium, the bra fit my breast size perfectly, and I didn’t have to compromise with a too-large band or loose shoulder straps, because of how much the band and straps can be adjusted.

“This bra proved me wrong. Its weight is a trade-off for being so adjustable—in the straps, rib band, and even the cups,” wrote the initially put-off evaluator. “My weight tends to fluctuate five to eight pounds constantly, and I feel like this bra would easily accommodate that range. It was comfortable, supported me well, and wicked away sweat.”

Because this is a more serious sports bra, it might not be the most comfortable thing to wear beyond your workout. And smaller breast sizes may find this a bit excessive. But for mid-to-large breasts, including those who have small bands but a larger bust, it’s hard to go wrong with this one.

The company was founded by a woman, Sara Moylan.
