Here at CR, we regularly see products come through our labs that are touted as innovative, imaginative, and exciting. And most of the time, these items are anything but—in other words, it’s tough to surprise us.

But occasionally something comes across the transom that makes us pause. A tool or device that solves a problem or addresses practical needs in a fresh way, thus earning a special place in the crowded field of home and tech goods. We’ve been gathering such favorites all year. Here, listed in alphabetical order, are our favorite new and cool items of 2025.

Tired of seeing $1,200 prices on every new phone? The iPhone 16e is a welcome relief. It has a large 6.1-inch display, facial recognition technology, and AI technology. Plus, you can expect a good camera and reliable battery life.

    Pet Hair Eliminator

    Broombi The Original Broombi

    Broombi The Original Broombi

This squeegee-style Broombi silicone broom probably won’t replace your traditional bristle broom (it doesn’t move over floors smoothly). But it’s great for pet hair because the strands won’t get stuck to the surface as you sweep them into a pile. It can also sweep wet messes into neat puddles that are easier to wipe off floors, and you can rinse and dry the broom quickly.

This Dreo small room air purifier does a great job of removing dust, smoke, and pollen on low and high speeds. It has a quiet auto mode and a filter indicator, and it’s easy to use, clean, and carry. It doubles as a fan and has an app, so you can control it remotely.

It might look like vintage enamel spatterware, but this Ello insulated stainless steel travel mug is perfectly up to date. In our tests, it was easy to use and clean, and it kept hot drinks hot for hours.

Eggs slide right off the ceramic surfaces of this well-priced Figmint cookware set. And according to the manufacturer, it’s not made with PTFE, a type of harmful “forever chemical.”

This Greenworks snow removal tool weighs just 20 pounds, making it easy to maneuver and use in places a full-sized snow blower couldn’t go, like on a deck or up a flight of stairs. But it still packs quite a punch, quickly and reliably working through tough snow piles and wintry mess. Its 80-volt battery can also be used in other Greenworks tools.

Here’s a handy way to check pollutants like mold spores and wildfire smoke in your home. This Inkbird indoor air quality monitor has a large display and can measure carbon dioxide, humidity, particulates, and more, plus overall air quality.

One of our best-performing models, this LG bottom-freezer refrigerator has a fully accessible freezer compartment and easy-to-grip handles. The door is reversible, so you can change the direction of its swing to suit your kitchen.

Hate vacuuming and mopping? Here’s a solution. This Narwal combo robovac and robomop cleans carpets better than most robotic vacuums, excels at picking up pet hair, and can mop your floors, too. Bonus: It costs less than many other robotic models.

The main cavity of this Ninja air fryer is glass, not metal, so you can watch your food from all angles while it crisps. Later, you can use the glass container to store leftovers. You can buy extra containers from Ninja, as well.

A Cooler You Can Count On

    Ninja Frost Vault Cooler

    Ninja Frost Vault Cooler

It’s perfect for barbecues and tailgating, of course, but this Ninja 65-quart cooler is also a good backup for power outages. It kept food at safe temperatures for days in our labs, with no condensation in the food storage drawers.

Our testers love these small PreSonus wireless Bluetooth stereo speakers. They offer superb sound quality at a reasonable price, and at just 8.5 inches high, they’re an unobtrusive addition to any space.

Monitor temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall, and more with this Sainlogic home weather station. The display is large and clear, and WiFi connectivity offers real-time information even when you’re away from home.

Some of the best dryers we’ve tested come with prices that might make your hair stand on end (like nearly $600 for our top-rated Dyson Supersonic R). This impressive Shark hair dryer is a lower-priced alternative.
