The LG WM8000H[V]A is part of the washing machine
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, front-loading washing machine
models like the WM8000H[V]A are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
This reflects the degree of color change to swatches of fabric that were included in an 8-pound and maximum capacity test load of mixed cotton items using the machines' most aggressive normal cycle. (We do not use special cycle or option buttons.)
This score is based on the energy needed to heat the water for 8-pound and maximum loads using a warm wash and cold rinse. We consider both gas and electric water heaters, and include electricity needed to run the washer and energy needed for drying. Washers that extract more water are scored higher.
This score denotes how much water it took to wash our 8-pound load and each machine's maximum load. On models that didn't set the fill level automatically, we used the lowest fill setting that sufficed for the 8-pound load. We then calculated water used per pound of clothing.
About This Brand
South Korean company LG was the first to market with steam washers; the company claims its machines provide real steam (created by a steam generator). The latest wrinkle from LG is what it calls the Allergiene cycle. That cycle, says LG, reduces and removes 95 percent of dust mites and pet dander from a load. LG washers range in price from $900 to $1,600.
Energy star The federal Energy Star program, administered by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, identifies a wide range of home appliances that use 10-50% less energy and water than standard models. These appliances can help you use less energy at home and save money on your utility bills.
Stainless-steel tub Tubs constructed of stainless steel are likely to be more durable than plastic or porcelain, and they allow for higher spin speeds. Plastic is the next most durable choice.
Auto temp. control This feature automatically mixes hot and cold water to reach the chosen wash temperature (which differs on various makes of washers). It's a good way to compensate for normal variations in tap-water temperature and prevents problems caused by water that's too cold, which keeps detergent from working properly.
Auto temp. control
Auto bleach dispenser Automatic Bleach dispenser releases the bleach at the proper point in the cycle, giving the detergent additives sufficient time to work.
This is 3rd brand of high capacity front loaders! Kenmore totally shredded the clothing and repair service KNEW it was horrible problem but came repeatedly and did NOTHING. Finally gave up and bought Samsung largest capacity. It is ok but on shorter cycles it does NOT clean the clothing well and some cycles are 3 HOURS!! Moved and needed electric only W&D. We decided on LG based on friends with large families suggestion. I LOVE it! I help with dog rescue and ALWAYS have several sterilization loads going daily! I've washed horse blankets in it. AND it does a great job on the speed load setting too! I'd buy a second set I love them so much! And it's never broken down like Samsung has.

Doesn't Clean Effectively
I will never buy a LG product again. I have had my washing machine one year and have had problems with leaking for 9 months. LG has sent a tech out numerous times and every time its something different. First I was using the wrong detergent. Funny it did not leak when I bought it and used the same detergent for 4 months. Second, I was using the wrong amount. Same amount I used the first 4 months. Then the washer was not balanced. Right, because the tech moved the washer around while working on it. Using the amount detergent to keep it from leaking the clothes come out dull. The whiles off-gray. If I could sell this washer to someone I would. Nothing but problems.

New Machine Repair
I bought this machine less than a year ago, and already the technician has been here six times! The worst part is customer service. An outsourced phone call with people trained to say the same bland message over and over no matter what your complaint. This top of the line machine broke down after six months. I had it repaired. then the same problem persisted, and then just last week, the entire motor had to be replaced !<br />now it is not draining water or spinning just one week after the last huge4 hour repair! Basically, they should have replaced the machine, as was the recommendation of the technician, but LG refused. Again I am sitting at home, wasting my day waiting for the repair man, and this is on a ten month old top-of-the-line machine???? i would say NEVER EVER buy an LG product, as the same thing happened with my dryer when it was barely two months old.
