WiMAX One of the standards used by cell phone service providers that they call "4G". Based on the IEEE 802.16e wireless standard, mobile WiMAX is a wireless broadband Internet connection like Wi-Fi, with comparable data speeds. But its range is much greater, measured in miles rather than feet, which in theory should provide continuous broadband coverage over greater distances. If supported you usually have to sign up with a service provider and pay an extra fee.

Started using Macs 7 years ago. Lot less overhead and a lot more reliability and ease of use over Windows which I had been using since grad school in 1986. Best machine I've seen yet, even better than my 2011 iMac. SSD hard drive phenomally fast, 8GB RAM more than adequate. The i7 chip very good. Works well in every respect. Using in conjunction with 811.n Apple Airport Extreme Wireless. Internet very fast. Retina display has to be seen - no pun intended. The only complaint I have is the price but I suppose you get what you pay for. Also had to buy the SuperDrive since this model doesn't have a drive. Only has 2 3.0 USB ports, had to buy a hub. Didn't like not having an ethernet port but didn't need it anyway. One can be purchased with a Thunderbolt interface for $30. Also, I did not like them getting rid of the FireWire 800 port and replacing with Thunderbolt, drives prohibitively expensive. 3.0 back up drives work very well without Thunderbolt. Apple has a dirty habit of overly pushy planned obsolesence. All in all, considering the performance, it was well worth it.
