About - Epson Expression Premium XP-810
The Epson Expression Premium XP-810 is an all-in-one inkjet printer with scan and copy functions, an automatic document feeder, built-in faxing, and both Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking. It works with both Windows and Mac OS. Individual cartridges for each color let you change only the ones that are empty. There's a second tray for full-size paper, allowing you to load letterhead paper, for instance. It also has a separate tray for snapshot-size photo paper. The printer can print directly on inkjet-printable CDs and DVDs. There's an automatic document feeder to let you copy or scan a stack of pages in one operation. The automatic document feeder can even copy or scan both sides of the pages. The printer has a large, 3.4-inch display screen that can preview photos to be printed from a memory card.

Comment:
Most unreliable printer I have ever experienced. The ink system is horrible, it hogs ink and the nozzles clog.
Very disappointed with this printer. Epson replaced the first with a refurbished and after about three months of light use it has problems with the ink and nozzle system.
How long have you owned it:
Three-to-six months
Bottom Line
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I didn't want to purchase another Epson, but my husband insisted. He loves the software for the Epsons. I thought it had to be better than the experience with the Artisan 800 line we had already have (replaced 4 times - 3 refurbished and one new within 6 months of original purchase).
We got the XP - 810 mostly for the photo print capability and software. Well, to me, the machine has to work even if the software is the best. We used the printer to print photos for gifts, and they were great. However, within 2 months, the problems began with the new XP-810. The printer was printing lines only.Dealing with Epson is not pleasant. I was actually told that I needed to go out and buy only Epson photo paper in order for the printer to work (I had NOT used Epson paper for all the pictures I made, so why should I go spend more money on photo paper?). I said this to the representative (he was pleasant but clueless).
Long story short...the unit was replaced with a new one (as the files at Epson clearly showed we were unhappy repeat customers), although we had to guarantee good faith with a $200.00 dollar hold on our credit card that we would return the first printer. The new one never worked. I think Epson put a refurbished model in a new box...just saying! The frustration level is through the roof.
The company agreed to refund our money, although I was told this is a special circumstance and not their policy. I returned the unit 8 weeks ago, and have not yet received our refund.
I would not recommend purchasing ANY Epson products.

This is a great printer in concept. It's even great out of the box. The whole 9 yards.

But as soon as it's out of the box for more than a day or two, the problems begin. We've had all the hardware and software problems of everyone else -- and we bought it because it got such glowing reviews from CR, among others. Obviously, reviews didn't use the machine more than once. We are now on our second replacement, and I need to find the time to call Epson and get IT replaced.

The main difficulty is the ink mechanism/software/hardware. But it is the heart of any printer, and this difficulty makes the Epson 800-series a loser of a choice. Too bad. It could've been great.
