I needed a phone that I could go hunting or fishing without worries about it getting damaged. I don't need to worry about it falling out of a tree stand or when I am fishing in the rain.
Thank You Casio for looking out for the wilderness dude, yet with some moderation.

After losing my BlackBerry Curve a few years back (when they were NOT cheap) to the wet environment (while encased in an Otterbox) in my saddlebag during a ride, I needed a new phone. Due to the high cost of smartphones, I wanted to find one that was waterproof, if possible. I also wanted a durable phone (we live on a farm/ranch and I take my phone horseback riding), plus with a WiFi hotspot for my laptop/tablet. Found this phone and have loved it. Needed to install Appkiller to deal with battery-sucking apps, but since then, battery life has not been a huge issue. Battery life could be better. Bottom line, I'm SO glad I bought a waterproof phone, because my hubby washed the darn thing by accident, and it did NO damage at all. Still worked just fine! The hotspot works wonderfully well and connectivity is pretty good. If you need to do a hard kill and pull out the battery, that is a bit of a challenge. Flashlight feature is really nice for me too. Keypad could be better-sometimes there are a few letters that are hard to get it to recognize-and this is coming from a woman...guys with big hands may have a hard time, don't know. Took me awhile after I bought it to figure out how to swipe to start screen. Does what I want well, takes abuse and still performs.

GPS works great, even when not in phone service areas, I use it as a speedometer/odometer and GPS on an offroad motorcycle, It took days of pounding over Coloroado mountain passed attached directly to the handlebar with no rubber mounting with no problems. Rain, bouncing, dropping, rocks, sand, dust, dirt, and not a single hickup.

Battery life is good but with GPS running and Maps loaded it isn't stellar. I used an external battery and used it all day with no issues.

This is the only phone/gps I've found that can take the abuse of enduro/dualsport motorcycles in any weather. Screen is bright enough for sunny days and after thousands of miles in dirt and grime still not a scratch.
