Comment:
Memories of my Grandmother and mother cooking using cast iron caused me to buy this but the flavor of food cooked with it causes me to use it. Once the initial seasoning is done, care of cast iron is easy. I use this skillet as much as every other skillet I own combined. It is my goto cooking utensil. I would get rid of every other skillet I own before letting go of this one. The one and only drawback is the weight . . . but then, the material and mass is part of what makes this skillet a potential heirloom!

I bought a set of Lodge cast iron skillet pans 8, 10 and 12 and cannot believe CR rated them so low and not mention the pros of cast iron cookware. Yes, it takes a little more care to clean them and then apply light oil coatings to maintain them, but these cast iron pans work great on my gas flame stove top and have the plus of having iron leeched into your food which is healthy for you! If you heat and use them right, they cook evenly and yes with time and proper seasoning care, they become more non-stick.<br />They will also last you forever and provide you good healthy cooking. Why CR did you rate them so low? Oh I forgot to also mention the great LOW prices these Lodges are going for! Wow! Go get some!

Comment:
I use a 12 inch flat pan, and 10 inch grill pan heavily since I've gotten them, both from Lodge. Easy to clean when done after eating meal, and they had time to cool down. Occasionally use a lid when needed. Threw out old pans since I bought them. They work awesome on gas stoves when several of my old pans didn't. The one above is next to be purchased to add to my growing collection.
