Former Chief Executive Officer, B Lab U.S. & Canada

Member of Consumer Reports’ Board of Directors since 2025. Jorge Fontanez is a mission-driven strategist and systems-change leader with a deep commitment to economic equity. As former CEO of B Lab U.S. & Canada, he led a network of over 2,500 Certified B Corporations to take collective action on climate justice, equity, and stakeholder governance—advancing policy advocacy, redesigning global business standards, and strengthening trust among communities, funders, and movement partners. With more than 20 years of experience spanning corporate, nonprofit, and academic settings, Jorge has led stakeholder engagement strategies at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Colgate-Palmolive, and Alcoa. He has been Clinical Professor at the NYU Stern School of Business and the Bard MBA in Sustainability Program, and he serves the NYU Center for Sustainable Business as an Advisory Board Member. He is also the founder of Marca Studio, a consultancy supporting purpose-driven brands and mission-aligned organizations. An Aspen Institute First Mover Fellow and board member of the Financial Health Network, Jorge advises leaders on the future of stakeholder capitalism. His current work focuses on reimagining capital, redesigning business models, and rewriting policy to build a just economy—one designed to eradicate the racial wealth gap and expand prosperity for generations to come.
