Chris Harto

Chris Harto serves as a Manager, Sustainability Advocacy for Consumer Reports’ Washington, D.C. office. He leads a team focused on advancing consumer friendly sustainable transportation and energy policy. During his time at CR Chris has become a nationally recognized expert on clean transportation policy. Recent work has focused on improving energy affordability by supporting a wide range of policy solutions from advancing energy efficiency to protecting consumers from costs associated with the rapid buildout of data centers.

Chris has over 20 years’ experience performing policy relevant research and analysis supporting federal and state governments, universities and nonprofits. Prior to joining CR Chris worked at Engergetics Inc., Argonne National Laboratory, Arizona State University, and Battelle Memorial Institute.

Chris holds degrees from Arizona State University (M.S.) where he was a member of the inaugural class of the School of Sustainability, and Ohio State University (B.S.) where he studied Chemical Engineering.
