James E. Rogers, PhD, is the Director of Food Safety at Consumer Reports. He leads a team that performs food testing, nutritional analysis, and risk and safety assessments, helping to identify contaminants and protect public health.
James came to CR from the Department of Agriculture, where he worked in food regulation and methods development, and led advisory committees. Prior to this work, James worked for the Army and Navy, providing leadership in laboratory operations, methods development, and samples analysis. James received his Bachelor of Science in medical microbiology from Ohio University, his master’s degree in microbiology from Miami (Ohio) University, and his doctorate in microbiology and immunology from the University of Michigan.
