Adidas Don't Rest Alphaskin Sports Bra Review

    It's a retro-cool sports bra that's better for low-impact activities

Adidas reliably has a great look if you’re into a more retro-sporty style (which I am). There’s a wide range of fun, vibrant colors, including an almost-blinding neon yellow, a cranberry, and a deep, rich sapphire blue. The front of the bra comes with a bold Adidas logo in a couple of styles, which I found fun but which another evaluator liked less: “The big logo front and center looks like it could start to crack and harden after a few washes.”

The bra is a traditional compression style, with a racerback and no adjustable features. The racerback is made with a thin, loosely knit material that’s ultra-breathable. But its light, delicate nature made us wonder if this bra would have a shorter life than some of the others.

It’s incredibly comfortable for lounging, and because it’s full coverage, I was able to complete my yoga workout with no problems. One evaluator wore it for her Barre3 class and found it so comfortable that after washing, she wore it the rest of the day. Another wore it to a spin class but found it less than comfortable; the band was too tight, and she wishes she had sized up.

My primary issue with this bra had to do with the straps. They’re too long, so my bust was getting support only from the band and none from the shoulders. And it looks odd, even a bit saggy—not ideal! These straps may be more appropriate for someone on the taller side, but as I’m only 5 feet tall, they were much too long for me. Adjustable straps would obviously make this bra suitable for a wider range of wearers. With 11 percent elastane and 89 percent recycled polyester, this is another ultra-stretchy bra, so support is going to be on the lighter side, and the bra may stretch out with time.

I’ll continue wearing this bra for yoga and for hanging out this summer; it’ll look great under some of my favorite tanks. But because of its materials and construction, it’s not the best option for more strenuous workouts.
