Sunbeam is recalling nearly 1.4 million Oster countertop ovens because their French doors could unexpectedly close and pose a burn hazard to users. Consumers are advised to stop using the ovens and contact the manufacturer for a repair.

The problem lies in the spring-loaded bilateral glass doors with metal handles. Sunbeam has received 95 reports of the doors unexpectedly closing, resulting in burn injuries to consumers, including two reports of second-degree burns, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall involves 1,290,000 Oster French-door ovens sold in the U.S. and 104,195 sold in Canada with the model numbers TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDG, TSSTTVFDMAF, and TSSTTVFDDAF. The model number can be found on the back of the oven and on its original packaging. Consumer Reports has tested a version of the Oster TSSTTVFDDG oven, which currently has limited distribution.

The recalled ovens don’t all look the same and may have different cooking options and controls, such as buttons instead of dials. “Oster” is engraved on the front bottom right of the recalled ovens.
