No pod coffee maker brand is more ubiquitous than Keurig. It accounts for 74 percent of all single-serve models purchased by Consumer Reports members from 2024 through the first half of 2025, according to our latest member survey. The entire category of single-serve brewers that use Keurig-style pods is often referred to as K-Cup machines, even though other brands make these coffee makers, too. Not surprisingly, Keurig machines perform well in our pod tests, though some other brands offer pod coffee makers that do just as well.
Regardless of the manufacturer, keep in mind that some of the best pod coffee machines for home use don’t yield the best-tasting brew. The draw is often their speed and convenience. Then there’s the environmental cost of the pods themselves. Although Keurig’s pods are technically recyclable, they generally must be separated from the coffee pouch inside and cleaned before going in your bin.

The Cuisinart Premium Single-Serve Brewer SS-10 boasts a stellar convenience rating, meaning it’s easy to use, refill, and clean. Plus, from cup to cup, you can expect the volume and temperature to be consistent, which isn’t always the case with this type of machine. This Cuisinart model also packs a ton of features, including programmability, a removable water reservoir, a built-in water filter, a height-adjustable drip tray, and an auto-shutoff function.
The Instant Dual Pod Plus (140-6013-01) takes both K-Cups and Nespresso pods, and you can expect to have a first cup and subsequent cups brewed in a flash. Our lab evaluations found it a convenient machine to use, and its settings allow you to tailor the coffee’s strength to your taste. As a coffee maker brand, Instant receives very good scores for product reliability and satisfaction based on our member surveys.
The Keurig K-Café Smart demonstrates very good to excellent performance in CR’s coffee maker tests. It delivers a first cup of coffee especially quickly, and it’s nearly as fast when brewing subsequent cups. It’s easy to use and offers six brew temperature settings and five brew strengths. But there’s more to this machine than coffee: It comes with a built-in hot and cold milk frother. It’s also programmable and WiFi-enabled. Keurig, as a brand, has a middling reliability rating, however, meaning it’s more likely than others to have problems within the first four years of ownership.
The Keurig K-Mini Mate (K88) is the least expensive K-Cup coffee maker on this list and earns a very good overall rating. Its first-cup speed is excellent, and its repeat cup speed is very good. It has a removable reservoir, and it receives a very good score for convenience, meaning it’s easy to operate, fill, and clean. Don’t expect many ways to customize your brew, however. This is a basic model with a so-so brewing range score.
The Keurig K-Supreme Plus Smart (along with the similar Keurig K-Supreme Plus and Keurig K-Supreme) earns excellent marks in first-cup speed and size consistency. It also delivers subsequent cups quickly after the first, which is important if you plan to serve multiple cups. It’s also convenient to use, and its settings let you easily adjust the brew’s strength. Like many K-Cup machines, this coffee maker’s features include auto-shutoff, a removable reservoir, and a height-adjustable drip tray. Programmability and WiFi connectivity make the K-Supreme Plus Smart especially convenient.
