models like the CHMRC17GS are rated on multiple criteria, such as those
listed below.
Heating evenness:
A high score means the microwave heats food evenly without hot or cold spots. A top-scoring model warms center and edges alike, helping heat foods like leftovers evenly.
Defrosting evenness:
A high score means the microwave's automatic-defrost program thaws food evenly without partially cooking or leaving icy spots (we test using frozen ground beef). A top-scoring model thaws meat uniformly and nearly completely, with some models fully defrosting the food.
Speed of heating:
A high score means the microwave heats quickly. A top-scoring model shortens cooking and reheating time.
